Why should we lose LP in ranked matches when a teammate goes AFK?

There have been so many times I have lost a ranked game because a player goes AFK. It doesn't matter if it is connectivity issues, Life Issues or anything in between. Why should the rest of the team be punished? I have been demoted a number of times due, in part, to the absence of teammates. I do not believe this is fair to the other players. I sympathize with the other team when it happens to them because I know how it feels. I would not want to see someone demoted due to an AFK player. I hope that there is something that can be done about this issue. Maybe a reduced LP loss? Maybe no LP loss? Maybe even if someone goes AFK for a certain amount of time the match ends and it results in a draw? I'm just tossing out Ideas. Maybe there are a few people who can relate with what I am saying. Because then duo partners would afk for eachother every other game with an afk to lose minimum lp

Even with 1 of em losing lp, they will lose 20 and the rest of the team loses 0 Next game the other guy afks before a loss and he loses 20. Now with 2 lost games they lost 20 lp each instead of what should have been 40 each

Yes, but the 3 other people on the team would not be affected by their actions. The bigger picture being the majority of players.

Also nobody just afkss randomly

Therere 4 reasons someone will afk

Computer/ internet issues
Wants to troll
Doesnt want to deal with teams yelling at them.
Doesnt want to face fed enemy team.

Number 1 cant be avoided which is 25% of all afks

Numbers 2 3 and 4 can be avoided by not talking shit in chat, and encouraging your team. If you arent the one yelling at them you remind them of the mute button, spam them to mute the person (not "mute x" over and over) say something like "hey dont listen to him, just mute him we got this"
