AP Item out of Hexdrinker?

SylvanasWrunner··2 votes·802 views

I personally feel like AD casters and ADCS lately have been beating AP mages by a mile where at some point that ADC's are even doing a lot more burst damages than those in AP. I could be wrong but that's just me.

I'm just asking if the possibility of making an AP item that is built out of hexdrinker that counters AD burst would be fair or not.

And I am aware of the mage update, but even then I feel like AD domination will still reign.

I mean we got an AP item 3087 which is item 3285 so might as well have a counterpart of item 3155

Critiques are well appreciated :)

Edit: I also feel that this should happen for item 3139 and have an AP item built out of item 3140

There isn't an AP version of Hexdrinker that saves Mages from AD assassins at level 6, why should there be Hexdrinker? Mages have to invest 3500 gold for that Zhonys. AD assassins pay 1400, and they never die in lane again

Mages tend to be far more relevant beyond lane phase compared to Zed and Talon. A lot of them are also safe enough to generally ignore the fact they have a disadvantage in lane anyways and just win team fights.

You can't really compare Mages to Talon and Zed seeing as they are designed for entirely different purposes and bring entirely different things to a team. They're meant to be different.

I hate assassins, but we don't have to let our bias blind us. Both Talon and Zed are more effective earlier than later, and in the case of Zed you'll often see most of the complaints are about his laning phase for a reason.

True for Zed not as true for Talon. Zed is an early game focused assassin and lane bully with a decent mid game. Talon is a weak laner early who becomes quite scary mid game and will still hold up nicely late game due to how he scales and not being completely countered my zhonyas or mercurial.

That's not true.

To be honest, we already have a counterpart to Hexdrinker; it's called item 3001

Before you say anything, allow me to explain. The active on Hex is unique. However, it is an offensive damage item with Magic Resist stats, just like Abyssal Scepter.

Also, I'd call Zhonia's a substitute for Mercurial Scimitar; it's an "Oh, shit" button that you use when you're in trouble, gives you defensive and offensive stats. Both of these roles need different things from their items... even if it does overlap sometimes. If you consider the case of Shiv and Luden's Echo, both parties can usually use some damage to spread around to multiple targets. Also, the different AD items create different playstyles around them. Just some food for thought.
