Reminder buying Relic Shield doesn't really mean a champion has sustain

That's like complaining that Renekton has AoE autos because he can buy a Hydra, or that Malphite takes less damage from crits because he can buy Randuin's. The item has sustain, not the champion. If the option to buy Relic Shield was sustain, than every single melee support has sustain and therefore should be dismissed completely when comparing two melee supports.

Besides, Relic Shield sustain is nothing when compared to a champion that actually has healing in their kit. 40hp every minute is negligible compared to 60hp every 10 seconds (albeit at the cost of a bit of mana).

Except it does give them sustain because it heals them. That what sustain is. Any type of healing. ADC has sustain because of lifesteal. And it's true that Malphite take less dmg from crit if he buys randuin because that what randuin does, reduce dmg from crit by 10%, but it goes for any champ that buys it. The item has the effect but if you buy it then the effect become yours which mean you have it. And every melee support does go Relic Shield, even Thresh goes relic shield. Relic shield was made for melee support to survive the poke because it gave them sustain.

A free 40 HP heal every minute is pretty massive. No heal abilities in this game cost "a bit of mana". They cost shit ton if you dont manage it correctly. You can go oom in matter of seconds if you spam it.
