Preseason 8 is coming soon...

Preseason 8 is almost here... so, can you undo the assassins rework? Since this preseason no roster update is coming, it's the perfect time to make a WHOLE class worth-playing again. When patch 6.22 arrived, the fun, burst damage and fluidity of the assassins were gone and so my will to play the game.

League being my favourite game to play with friends and alone, has become frustrating since the assassins rework happened. This is not a Crypost, I just want to show my feeling about the current state of the champions that still make me play the game.

We can all agree that this update has been a botched by Riot for champions like LeBlanc and Rengar, completely broken champions and insanely hard to balance. Rengar mains are asking for a revert of their most favourite champion with some number ajustments on his abilities.

  1. But why were the assassins reworked?
  2. Did it work?
  1. Because they had no ''identity'' or they wanted to give them more tools at what they are supposed to do well. Let's talk first of all about Talon Talon He was well known (before the rework) to be a hard snowballing champion and an excellent roamer, his route was basically push > roam push > roam and so on. They gave him this parkour mechanic. Tbh, it's ok, that ability is fun to use and overall you did a good job with Talon, however, he feels clunky, he used to be a flashy champion, assassins in general used to be FLASHY AND FLUID champions. Talon is the only rework im ok about, but could be better. LeBlanc Leblanc was know for her bullying potential and INSANE burst damage with almost No-counterplay, being a safe pick and HARD TO PLAY. She was a true show in competitive play, what pros could do with her was something worth watching. When the rework came out, they gave her a new passive that makes her to wait 1,5 seconds to get more than 50% of her damage (removing fluidicity) and a better version of her ultimate. She became a MONSTER, good LeBlanc players were super opressive in the laning phase, her damage was insane and they also gave her a lot of waveclear. A new broken champion has appeared, even more than the old version. She became super dominant in the mid lane and her ban ratio was INSANE. They tried to nerf her by a lot removing overall W damage and RW damage, what was supposed to be the end of LB's reign of doom. item 3146 BOOM! Even more powerful! Noone thought Gunblade would be a good item on her, but with this she was way better than before giving her more Burst damage and sustain. Was this your intention Riot? You are planning to do some work on her, you should work around her old ultimate imo, this new one is too good. And again, a failure. Rengar Rengar Just undo the rework already. Feels clunky, no longer flashy, and too easy to play. It's ridiculous, in every sense, damage and gameplay, if you have to die everytime you have to look for a kill, something's wrong This rework, was very very bad, he is now a fighter more than a true assassin.

KatarinaKatarina Of all the champions that were part of the big 4, she used to be my favourite by far, fun to play, really flashy and she danced for us when we bought something, that was removed... (biggest nerf ever). Katarina being my second favourite champion in the game, I can confirm that she did NOT deserved this. I mean, was she even a problem? What identity did you empower? She already used to be the queen of teamfighting, you changed nothing at all but adding this dagger machanic, if an enemy is not stupid enough, they will get away from the daggers and you'll lose a lot of your damage. I loved the old Kat, the ''noobchamp'' Kat, the ''RIP Keyboard'' Kat, and I'd do anything to get her back. Look, I gave the new one a change, I tried to play her and so I did... and I can tell y'all I have experienced several times the bitter flavour of an enemy living with like 10 hp and a dagger falling, something I never felt with the old Kat. Now she is too predictable and with so many CC, bullshit in general making assassinations impossible, she can be denied too hardly, like very very hardly. That is frustrating, doing everything on point and getting denied without wayout feels really bad. The only thing a like about the new Kat are her new VFX.

  1. Did it work? Nope, it didn't, the big 4 and the small updates removed too many good factors about assassins leading to a lot of counterplay, slowly removing them from the metagame. Shaco was my favourite jungler in season 4, 5 and 6, now Riot is nerfing ardent censer, which is a core item on Shaco atm, because he can proc it with the dagger slow, an ability that heals enemies (weird mechanic tbh). The box changes are actually... ah... why did you even put that? It's ridiculous.

In season 6, Kha'Zix Khazix recieved a lot of buff because he wasn't played enough, he was underpowered and bad during that time, well, the assassins rework BROKE him, the ADC 2k17 was real and he was a beast, they had to nerf him several times and nowadays he is still good. When I saw his changes I thought: ''Why?'' I could agree with the passive change and lowering the Q damage to compensate, but the evolved W I didn't get why they did it... the evolved R was cool to me, I liked it.

But now, let's talk about one of the WORST changes, the lethality. Lethality replaced flat armor pen. and edge of night was added, Youmuu's got nerfed to death and Draktharr was gutted. However, assassins were doing their job, I could understand why Rengar was oneshotting me, but I couldn't understand why a Varus took 70% of my HP with one Q, or MF straight deleting my HP with her ult, or in the worst case scenario, with one Q, I did not understand why ADC's got the same advantages than assassins, being marksmen way more safe, not feed or feast champions, completely compulsory (because assassins right now are O P T I O N A L, you can be reported for playing them).

Zed, my favourite champ, used to gain AD in the late game with his W passive (about 50-60, even more sometimes), now I have to waste my ult on the ADC, eventho is not the biggest threat (but now they are the major threat every single game) to get 9 miserable AD, being ~25 AD in the late game.

Conclusion: They killed assassins, they really did. The champions that used to be played for fun were destroyed to make them super mechanical and clunky, which I think Is a HUGE mistake by Riot, removing the fun factor of assassins is like removing the the range of marksmen. Lethality is a problem too, assassins that are currently strong are not because of their overpowered kit, yet the lethality and the Duskburst of Draknerf. If you are going to say ''you need to take a break'' just don't say it, I know myself and I know when I need a break and when I don't, League is my favourite game and I still play a lot of champs, but the ones I love playing the most are not the same, the are worser than ever.

Remember, this was MY PERSONAL opinion, I want to know yours (please, be respectful),

ReXase, a fellow and sad assassin main.

And to end, a quick poll, please, be honest:
