Rek'Sai The Useless
Hey Guys! I’m Dan DragonSword Gold V on NA Servers. I created this discussion to share my thoughts and opinions On the Current state of Rek’Sai (Balance Wise). I will divide this discussion for each of Rek’Sai’s abilities. This Discussion was completely inspired by FoxDrop’s Video and View Of Rek’Sai.
Fury of the Xer'Sai (Passive) – Really Great Sustain Passive perfect for jungling. Where you build up fury attacking and regen Health while traveling, Almost Perfect. Not Much I Would Change Here. Queen's Wrath (Q Ability/UnBurrowed) – This is by far Rek’Sai’s best ability period. Bonus Physical Damage On Autos and Free waveclear all under a convenient Cooldown Reduction of 4 seconds. Absolutely Beautiful. Plus that free Auto Attack Reset is just begging For A Ravenous Hydra Purchase. Nothing to change here either.
**Queen's Wrath (Q Ability/UnBurrowed) – **This is by far Rek’Sai’s best ability period. Bonus Physical Damage On Autos and Free waveclear all under a convenient Cooldown Reduction of 4 seconds. Absolutely Beautiful. Plus that free Auto Attack Reset is just begging For A Ravenous Hydra Purchase. Nothing to change here either.
Prey Seeker (Q Ability/Burrowed) – This is Queen’s Wrath’s shadow. A needle-sized skillshot that would make Annie Laugh at its damage. Also under that convenient Cooldown of 11-7. ;_;. What im guessing is Rito put this ability in just so Rek’Sai could gain vision of her target when in Burrowed Form. No Slow, No Buff of somekind, it’s just another reason to Build AP. I would add either a slow of somekind of 10-20 % that decays over 1 second or some sort of buff that increases Rek’Sai’s movement speed when moving towards a target hit by Prey seeker. Besides that APRek’Sai4Lyfe ;3
Burrow (W Ability/UnBurrowed) – I absolutely love the idea of this ability. That sonar feel looks amazing. But when Rito said “We want to make her feel like a LandShark” I was thinking more of a Burrowed Rek’Sai without a Huge health bar above her. Instead we get a weird looking “Monster” that is very visible and vulnerable. The movement speed also seems Lack-Luster. I would not only make the movement speed buff a percent increase instead of the flat 15, I would also make her life bar disappear –Leblanc.
**UnBurrow (W Ability/Burrowed) – **The only CC Rek’Sai has and you put it into a confined Radius that’s only a millimeter wide that dishes out a minor knock-up if they are right above you? ;_; Really Rito Have you not learned? Plus theres a cap that can only make a target be able to be knocked-up after what is it 5 seconds or something like that? Have fun trying to land that one when ganking. If anything, I would just add a .5 second stun after the target is knocked-up so this ability doesn’t seem so underwhelming.
Furious Bite (E Ability/UnBurrowed) – Remember how I joked around saying Prey Seeker would make Annie Laugh? Well this ability, Annie won’t even feel it. This is that kind of Volibear bite, the last attack you use to finish off a target. Except this ability requires a full bar of Fury to make that Annie feel like she’s actually been attacked because this DOES NO DAMAGE WITHOUT FURY, NONE AT ALL. Oh btw In meta game where junglers gank instead of afk farm, especially now that they nerfed Devourer (Why Rito? Why?), ganks require timing and junglers have a short timespan between getting nothing, a flash, or a kill. And since your Fury depletes with traveling, you’ll come into a lane with 0 Fury. And if any of you reading this right now have ever reached a full Fury bar with a gank before, you have accomplished something great my friend. It is near impossible to get something out of this ability with the short time you have. Maybe Rito can somehow add a % missing health to this ability without making it too op? Or maybe just a flat out increase in damage or a slow applied to it? There are so many options but at its current state its stupid useless.
Tunnel (E Ability/Burrowed) – A very Slow gacloser that can easily be sidestepped at any given time. At this point I don’t know how Rito expects any Rek’Sai player to perform a successful gank. With the many fast gapclosers meta champions have this time around, Rek’sai is anything but inescapable. A successful Rek’Sai gank will require a burst assassin or a lockdown champion like lissandra. Tunnels Directly impact Rek’Sai’s efficiency on his ultimate. I first thought these tunnels wouldn’t be shown on the map and could not be destroyed. But instead they are so easily visible on the map and are even easier to destroy. Any tunnels you place outside your base will be destroyed. And overall this ability was a potentially amazing mechanic turned into an underwhelming and sometimes just ridiculously bad ability. What I suggest is for tunnels to reach a certain maximum time before they can be destroyed, ensuring Rek’Sai can make some use of this ability and be a more mobile champion as Riot described she would be.
**Void Rush (Ultimate) – **This is the most disappointing ability Rek’Sai has. However, Don’t get me wrong when I say that, this is a half decent ability. Rek’Sai has access to free attack speed to synergize with her unburrowed abilities, but when I mean disappointing I mean the half teleport on a 150-80 second cooldown. Rek’Sai was described by Riot to be a great splitpusher. This is completely wrong. Tunnel placement directly impacts how useful your Void Rushes will be. And having stupid vulnerable and visible tunnels mean you will be using this ultimate half the time to teleport into your own jungle, not even when you’re in a losing game. And since Void Rush is such an easily visible ability it can be used against you and just easily avoided instead. Not to mention how ANY single hit of damage completely stops Void Rush’s channel. Another very potential mechanic wasted by Rito’s fear of broken-on-release champions. Do you guys even use PBE for any information about champions?
In conclusion, Rek’Sai feels like a potential concept wasted, and is an easily visable and avoidable champion that brings little CC and Damage to the table. In about a couple of weeks Rek’Sai will just be that occasional Skarner or Sion.
I would like to Apologize for you guys having to endure my endless Ranting, and If you somehow made it this far Good job, that was an accomplishment itself. In which points do you agree/disagree with me? How do you think Rito can make Rek’Sai Viable?
