I already have 3 level 7 tokens for Twisted Fate, but it requres either a champion shard, essence or , champion permanent. Why can't I upgrade it? If I have the champion shouldn't that count as ,,champion permanent"?
Deep Terror Nami4 votesBy "Champion Permanent" it is talking about 3 champion shards that have been rerolled; if you already own every champion when you do that, since the one you get can't go into your account you get a "champion permanent" that sits in your inventory. They aren't worth as much as 3 shards, but you can disenchant, reroll, or use them for Mastery.

Deep Terror Nami1 votesWhat's crappy about it? There are several ways to fulfill that Mastery requirement; A specific shard, specific permanent, or Essence (which you can get by disenchanting the first two of any champion).
The ability to use the permanent was just so players had something to do with them if they happened to get some (you should not be rerolling your tokens if you already own every champ, though).

Other than what has already been said, you can also purchase a champion shard in the store, under the accessories tab. It is called "Hextech Mystery Champion Shard" and costs around 1700 IP or 195 RP, once bought you can disenchant it into essence. I am not 100% sure on the type of essence it gives but as far as I remember it is the correct one.
