Clarity With Resitance Buffs & Reduction
We all know that there are shields. A grey set of temporary health of sorts. Along with these are damage specific shields i.e the orange and purple shields to block attack and magic damage respectively. However with abilities and item active that grant bonus resistance never get much spotlight. So what if their was a way to see how much damage you blocked. So this is one of my suggestions.
Protection: Anytime a champion is granted bonus resistance from a source other than basic stats there will be a secondary “health bar” much like the shield bar. This would be a pitch black bar that covers only the bottom half of the health bar. This would show what health unit would be at is it had been without the bonus resistance. This would allow the ally team and the player themselves to feel and understand the full effect of the ability. This would also allow the enemy also to be able to feel and understand what happened and how to play against it.
However with this change “grey health” on characters such as Rengar and Tahm Kench may feel a bit more clunky and confusing with so many different “health bars” effectively. So instead to be put in place of this could be a single thin marker at the end of what would have been the “grey health”.
But what about champions like Kalye. Champions who reduce the resistances of enemies? This is a similar and perhaps more important issue of clarity. Players of these champions are left not really noticing the effect that they made, while the enemy is left wondering how they took so much damage. This could also be fixed by a similar method.
Vulnerability: Anytime a champion has it’s resistances reduced they will gain a secondary vibrant white bar that only takes up the bottom half of the health bar. This bar would show where the units health would have been had the targets resistances not been lowered. This again would let both enemies and allies see, feel, and understand the effect, what happened, and how to play around or with it.
This effect could go beyond just resistance buffing, and reduction. This could also be used for champions such as Janna that grant bonus damage to their allies. These in the end would leave all players understanding the effect of such abilities much better.
