Wukong nerf is unaccurate
Now before you read this huge paragraph of words, i suggest you read all of it once you start and don't just give down vote or up vote whether you are a wukong lover or not. The wukong nerf was unacurate, the q nerf now requires maxing q for his 20 + 1.1 ad ultimate that does not apply most on hit affects and disable all other abilities for 5 seconds to deal damage. He used to be able to have a good burst with e q combo giving him strong lane phase even though he has no sustain and big mana costs (which is actually op). But after the new patch where champions stats rose, that extra armour every champion has made a huge difference with his new nerfed armour penetration on q. People always say that champions don't have much armour earlier on so the nerfed armour penetration doesn't make much difference, but it does now. Thew new meta combined with the nerf made his and e,q combo that costs high mana deals little damage and unable to max e first makes it no longer possible to duel against other top lane champions when having health advantage. It used to be like this : Wu e,q,w Voli bear, play passive till e, q comes off cool down and e, q volibear again, volibear runs back due to having less hp and the 185 basic attack range wukong have gives him 2 more basic attack dealing damage without worrying Volibear fighting back. That's why wukong used to have good lane phase and then at level 6 he can just all in and get kills. But now it is like this: Wu e,q,w Voli bear, but due to the bonus armour every champion now has, e,q does not deal as much damage as used to, Wu plays passive till w comes off cool down, had to do another e,q,w combo to get the health advantage before able to e,q volibear and chase him dealing 2 more basic attack like he used to and the basic attack won't deal as much damage since q will not have 30 percent armour penetration by that time. Now if we look at it, Nerfed Wu in the new meta used about 300 mana, 37 seconds(the w cooldowns) to get a health advantage so he can use another 100 mana to chase and basic attack enemy to spreads the gap more. Now, during those 37 seconds of playing passive, if you are against any champion with some sustain, that damage worth 300 Wu's mana, half of it goes in to waste, meaning you have to do another e,q,w combo to gain health advantage before you can fight him just using e,q and basic attacks to reduce the mana usage. (About half because they would'v leveled up in this 37 seconds), definitely wasted 300 mana if they used a health pot, which will cover 90 percent of damage you dealt. If you are asking why would i play passive while my W is on cool down and not fight them, it's because wu has always been a all in burst, he loses most trades that consists duelling because he cannot build defensive as core with his not so high hp and low base, high scaling abilities. If you just e,q fight enemy in the new patch, i'm sorry but he is not riven he loses trades instantly and very hard. Now let's look at the old Wu in the old meta, he is able to get the health lead in 1 e,q,w combo. Which is about 150 mana, to reduce your hp to about 8/10 and gaining a health advantage. 9 seconds latter, he e,q you again and say you have some sustain and armour which most top laners do , he would be able to reduce your hp to 7/10. Then he just keeps doing that and at level 6, e,q,r and gets a kill. Now if you compare the new wukong and old wukong, you finds out before the nerf he is easy to play because e,q,w gutting hp advantage and all that requires no skills(i mean e,q,w requires no skills). He has a good kit with good damage, making him hard to beat unless against his counters. Anyways, i used to play wu and enjoys playing him. I knew he is overpowered and knew a nerf is coming. Personally the reason i think he is so powerful is his easy yet really good kit that allows no outplay from enemies. The nerf i expected was changing his kit into something that requires more skill to play but not nerfing his abilities. The reason why this nerf is overdone is because his easy and strong kit requires mana, and by nerfing his damage out put with the new meta where champions with high stats can actually be considered buffed, a champion who is not a duelist, requiring high mana cost to deal nice damage with abilities got his abilities nerfed. I really think they should'v just do a rework on wukong's kit because with his kit right now, he cannot find balance. more damage meaning a good Wu can always avoid damage doing what i said earlier on with enough mana. Nerfing his damage, a good wu cannot do much since his abilities and kit cannot do enough damage to opponent unless he have infinite mana. I don't think buffing Wu with more mana would work since it's same as buffing his abilities. He can just keeps doing e,q,w and once he gets health advantage he all in you. Basically what am saying is if he has enough ability damage with enough mana, he can always kill his lane opponent. But if he lacks enough ability damage/mana, he cannot kill lane opponent no matter how hard he tries to out play with W, which is the only ability that determines a good Wu or bad Wu. I hope some riot people have a look at this and give him a small rework in the future patches. I would love if Wu is a champion with more difficulty where good people can be good at him, excellent people can be excellent at him, not like now where good player and excellent player play Wukong the same way.
