Tower Damage

Screamin Banshee··32 votes·2,175 views

Does anybody else find that tower damage on the inner turret, inhibitor turrets and nexus turrets is severely lacking?

I'm finding that the turrets which had changes are not dealing very much damage, I find i get dove by people with 0 armor items while building full dmg, take 6 tower shots and get out at half health. This sound familiar?

It would probably work better if the initial burst of damage was higher and then the damage done per second backed off and slowly ramped up. That way you get the initial "ouch" reaction from players that discourages tower dives.

Or have it ramp up faster and higher, so they actually hurt when under them for any length of time under 10s.

I just want to feel safe under tower from someone who doesn't have at least a chain vest lol.

Low base damage that scales will of course end up scale poorly in the end.

It's like Riot just throws numbers out and hope they work.

To be honest, these towers feel like they were designed exclusively for giving underfed ADCs the ability to always last hit under them.

The outer turrets are the same though i find. They hit hard and u can turtle under it for safety. If they take that tower and start on the inner and you try the same thing the tower just tickles that full ad xin diving you.

That's the point of preseason. Probably none of the changes in right now are definite in their current state

no offense but isnt that the whole reason the preseason thing exists? Its kinda like an open beta phase of any game, there will be changes by the end of the open beta.

i ould be surprised if there werent severe changes to dragon. the buffs are kind of nuts. they could at least switch the ad/ap buff with the improved creep damage.

Uhm... you DO know that that actually is a legitimate game-balancing technique, right...?

As an engineer student who has done at least some math, no , I don't, because the graphs for the scalings of each skill with each stat can be made and, even though they are not absolute indicators of power, they would provide at least a BASIC idea of where things land.

You know, exactly like Sion dying faster after his passive getting buffed? Do you know how much time it would take to actually find that out? 5 minutes on a simple calculator, not even a scientific one.

Define "legitimate." Just because people do it doesn't mean it's a good idea. It's far more efficient to spreadsheet it all out, heck there are some people in gaming communities that'll do it for the devs without being asked (I've done it for previous games when the devs clearly weren't comparing numbers at all). Once you've got all the numbers in front of you, sure you can't account for every possible outcome as the meta evolves, but you can account for a lot and it usually works. If nothing else, it gets you closer to the right number than guesstimating.

I agree with this. The towers seem to need a lot of numbers tuning before the new Season starts.

The thing is that the towers have insane ramping armor pen meaning it doesn't really matter if the tank or a squishy is tanking the turret which is kind of silly...

The inner turrets are indeed seriously underpowered right now. I can't believe how many times I stunned or heavy slowed a diving glass cannon mage under my turret. I was really surprised she survived that with a single defensive item... Akali was a problem in season 4. Now in this pre-season she's even more broken...

The damage resets if they switch targets, meaning if you constantly have the turret swapping target it will merely lightly tickle everyone

At least in the old turret system if you got shot even once you would get chunked on some champs, now you just receive a light pat on the head

I believe that Riot addressed this in the preseason Q&A thread. They are aware of the issue and planning to correct it.

I feel towers lack damage and defense.

It seems just a creep wave will secure a tower.
