. I cant think of another item in the game that has the components for a part separate, but does not combine them.
That would encourage you to buy multiple items with unique passives that don't stack, which is bad design.

Recurve bow has a unique +10 physical damage on-hit. Stat-wise, that's the only thing different between a recurve bow and two daggers. Building a second recurve bow would not gain the unique passive again, so you'd have the exact same stats buying double recurve bow as you would buying recurve bow + double dagger. But double recurve would cost 200 more gold.
It would be a very sloppy build path to force you to buy two items with the same unique passive.
