Support Kills

I am kind of stuck on this one guys, what is your take on this situation? Let's say you are playing a Support, and you are in position to kill a target on the enemy team. However, not too far off is one of your carries that is going for the kill too, but he is still walking up and the enemy has a small chance of getting away. Do you take the kill for yourself to just get that player out of the way, or do you wait for your team mate so he can get some extra gold for it?

I have always just taken the kills myself, I want the enemy out of the way so we can take objectives without wasting any more time. But I can also see the benefit of getting my carry more fed

I feel a kill is a kill for the team. I don't try to steal, but I'm not going to stop attacking just to make sure someone else gets the kill because if they get away, it's on me.

To avoid toxicity I always apologize for stealing when I get a kill that someone else might have been able to get. Most of the time they don't care but it avoids problems in the few cases where they do.

Depends on the situation. If there is no chance that the person in question is getting away from me(such as I have a 3 stack Tristana Bomb on his head or I've ignited him or I've flashed/dashed/blinked on top of them) it's frustrating if the support takes the kill. The gold, 9 times out of 10, is better on me because I'm likely playing a carry(Tristana is my main and she tends to need a big gold advantage out of laning phase or she just won't be able to do anything).

But if I can't catch up and the guy is likely to escape, I'm fine with the support taking it. I'm not even all that bothered if they accidentally take kills(sometimes people don't notice an ignite or underestimate the amount of damage a 3 stack Trist bomb will do or flat out don't realize you have the CD's to close the gap).

But if they're purposefully sniping the kills, that's going to really cheese me off. :/

If it's not 100% the adc will secure it, then I absolutely make sure I do and give no f***s if the adc wants to cry about it. Securing the kill is always better then them getting away.

If they are 100% dead to rights it's better to not take it. But if there is even a 1% chance they get away just take it. Like in the situation you described your AD is not in auto range, so they could fail to get it for a number of reasons. Even in the case of things like "the three stack trist bomb" if the enemy Janna makes it back to lane and flash shields him or something, he got away. Also in many of those cases your AD will have to blow their own flash to kill secure and you just taking the kill saves their flash for later.

It's really a judgement call. Personally, if there's a slight chance the enemy can get away I'll take the kill. If my ADC was Draven, however, I would try to let him have it for his passive. If they flame you for it, mute them, you don't need that negativity in your life.
