About Support.

Ok, there are a few things I can deal with: --The unfinished death damage windows (I mean, knowing what zephyrslamentburn or a blank box stands for is unneeded besides knowing whether it was magic or physical, right?) --The surprising mismatches of ability visuals and actual hitboxes (I mean, why shake up the system when it's only visible in every game. After all, giving 3D models 2D hitboxes is a good compromise, right?) --And I won't even go into the recent complexity creep

What really, and I do mean really needs to be fixed, is one thing: support. (Disclaimer; I--reluctantly--main support)

This is not a whine thread, I get that done to annoy my brother, but this is something I've brought up before; support is the role that holds back queue times. But of course, this isn't a mystery, we all see the support option advertising shorter times along with fill. And to be honest, I'm not surprised about that: support gives the lowest reward to risk ratio out of any of the positions.

Supports don't get much recognition; set up a kill, lock down an assassin, save half the team, salvage the team idiot from a shitstorm of their own making; self sacrifice that often ends up being literal in the sense of the gameplay. Now remember that supports are demanded to do all this on an anemic supply of income--even the jungle makes more gold. Conversely, if the carry is doing poorly/tilting, all too often it's the support who gets blamed and also gets held back because of the carry's performance. Additionally, since supports typically lack damage output, they are left unable to contribute to the team if the carry does poorly.

All this together means that supports are stuck in a position, where they are basically shackled to the performance of their carry, typically receive little to no recognition for their deeds (can you think of any LCS support or even a well-known support main streamer off the top of your head?) and are lambasted for their mistakes. This already is a unenviable position to be in, but they also must make do with low gold income and incredible reliance on the skills of their teammates. With all these factors working against satisfying-feeling gameplay, is it any wonder nobody want to play support?

We don't want or need recognition. Support is fun to play because it's the most strategically in-depth position. Support creates windows opportunity for the rest of the team through vision and CC. We don't want flashy kits that highlights power to be inevitably nerfed. Support is fun for people with support mindsets. There's 4 other carry positions in the game for people with carry mindsets.

What's broken is tanky dps and overloaded kits that have the power and utility of two or three champions while having just one damage item. Go fix that.
