general question.

I haven playing league on and off again for about 4 years. I have been watching alot of you tube videos to help me in my game play, but I am having trouble with team fights. It is hard to read my team if they are going to go all in or if they are trying to bait them closer.... and when it does go off and I am still alive from not miss reading them then I find it hard to contribute unless I have an aoe attack or when it is time to chase and clean up. I would like to know if anyone else has that trouble and some advice for me.
