Thoughts about Towers
There's been plenty of complaints directed at towers 'being weaker than ever' and while I personally question the degree, if at all that towers have been nerfed, I believe I've seen enough to say that towers are no longer properly doing their job, in a sense. Basically, the problem is getting your opponent to fight under your tower...No longer feels good, period. in an early-game laning situation, if you're under tower away from the minions, it lets your opponent get free farm and fed via minions, and when they push out to the tower, chances are they know how to dive and kill you quickly before the tower has time to function, and given how successful an 'early snowball' strategy is now, it feeds heavily into the use of lane bullies and crowds out late-game champions And when it comes to mid-late game teamfighting...In theory, the tower is a defense that should allow the defender to win...In practice, it just wraps around to what happens 'earlier' in-game, you get dived on, and the tower just doesn't do much of anything in the time it has to work, and then doesn't have the damage while your opponent is swaggering out from under it. Now, assuming this ISN'T according to Riot's plans as to what 'balance' should look like, I can think of a few ideas to change this:
- the old Season 5 (or was it 4? I forget now) Tower shield generator. Basically, tier 2 towers used to generate a shield for themselves and anyone standing under them. At the time I believe it was removed due to stalling games overmuch, but now I think it might be appropriate given the complaints about how much damage has increased as of late.
- Stunning shots-what it says on the tin basically. Maybe as a 3-hit passive to specifically be an answer to dives as opposed to accidentally stepping a bit too close, so it hits the problem case (leisurely dives) without impacting other areas of tower interaction (minions hitting tower as they should.)
