Thought: Why get a Tank again?
We've all seen enough threads to weave a blanket on these forums about how 'Tank Ekko needs to go' or 'So sick of brusier Yasuo!' etc, etc, but the way I see it, things stick in the meta when there's no better alternative.
And from what I've seen? I'd argue that the real issue is that right now, there are just too few gameplay ideas for actual tanks to use, or at least ideas that don't end up landing on champions who fall under different archetypes instead of 'tank'. Like
's anti-death field ult, or
's shield-stun zone alongside his signature 'reverse time' ult, or
's Windwall, and there are more that I can think of (There's a reason why in one of those community-made Urf statistic lists that
is one of the very few champions that drifted over to Tank gameplay!)
And I personally suspect this might be the 'true' reason why tanks have been replaced with the tankasin,or tankirmsher as of late-simply put, there's plenty of reason to reward skilled attacking, but there's no real basic 'defending' gameplay-the best I've found, is you use your CC abilities to prevent the enemy from catching you and yours, or offer yourself up to take the blow for your allies, which if I'm correct, was kind of what inspired
, but unfortunately leads to tank gameplay looking quite abit like 'feeding the enemy' gameplay.
That said, I'm personally more one for playing the game firsthand to figure stuff out rather than watch LCS matches to learn and improve so I might be off in crazy-town with this idea, but what about you guys?
makes all tanks useless lategame.
