Nexus Post about Yasuo and my response to it

I saw a post about Yasuo and how he's frustrating to play against and how he may be reworked because of his ban rate and so on. When Rito was asking about the player opinion I made a response and I wanted to to get other players opinions on my thoughts.

The TLDR version of what I said is: He's frustrating to play against because no matter how much you shut him down and play against him properly, he has a small margin for error when it comes to ending the game. It often feels like just giving him one good fight or a kill or two will put him back into the game compared to most champions that don't have that same issue.

Here's the full post of what I said.

I haven't really played him too much so I can't say anything about playing him. But when it comes to playing against him, I have mixed feelings about him. On one hand, as a jungler main, I don't find him too annoying at all. I have champions that can effectively dual against him in the early mid game (Warwick per example is the champ I use when it comes to annoying champs like Master Yi, Tryndamyre and Yasuo), And since most Yasuo's push lane out of habit, its pretty easy to set up ganks / camp him until he's 0 and 4 with barely any CS. So to me, his early game isn't the issue. I think the source of the problem is that as long as the Yasuo is smart enough not to feed too hard, He puts the enemy team in the same dilemma as a few select champions which are the following: (fizz to a lesser extent it was more problematic in season 6. to a lesser extent. There are more, but in my opinion there's something problematic about champions like these than any other champion in league which is what I like to call their 'X factor' (ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Reference). These champions that you can punish and make them go 0 5 and only 70 CS in the first 20 minutes, can come back HARD if you make the smallest mistake of giving them a kill or too many assists. Back in Season 6 even if you shut down fizz hard, that one roam he pulled off at bot lane and got 1 kill somehow gave him the momentum he needed to snow ball the game, which is why in lower elo he was banned often. Tryn it doesnt matter if you kill him 5 times he still has the option of Split pushing and being a pain in the ass for the enemy team and if you give him a kill or two, oh boy he becomes a problem quick. Yasuo is no different which is why I believe the problem isn't necessarily that he's just outright frustrating to play against, its the fact that even when you play against him properly, the person laning him or people versing him are very stressed throughout the game because they know if he gets a kill, if you give him anything, he can come back into the game hard and just take over. And while someone might argue that any champion should be able to do this, from my personal experiences, those three above are the type of champions that no matter how properly you play, you have to be on your edge throughout the whole game and due to how uncoordinated soloqueue is (and other random factors such as having someone who's lower elo in your game) its the PERFECT environment for those champs to come back. Some proof of these notes are even in the comments you said. In higher elo he struggles more. Why is that? its because when players punish him properly and shut him down(which they know how to do on a more consistent basis) Diamond, master, and Challenger players simply make less mistakes than lower elo players which is why Yasuo is such a problem in lower elo vs higher elo( actually im pretty sure he's rarely banned in higher elo compared to lower elo.) The interesting part is that even in higher elo Yas can still make that comeback. There was a game Dom played an Elise game against yas who was shut down early and later in the game because of one mistake from one of their players, he got a few kills, and the game was over right then and there. Are there solutions? Tbh I don't really know but I would perhaps look at his ability to scale and maybe change that. If he took longer to scale then even if he got a few kills after being shut down it wouldnt feel nearly as cancerous to face him. Maybe change how his crit works so he's forced to build more crit items first thus increasing the time players have to end the game before he becomes a problem. Because saying that he doesnt have any windows of weakness is similar (but i express not the same) when players say that Zed is broken as an Assassain. They both have windows of weakness its just the matter of learning how to take advantage of it. What do I like about him: I love his ability to outplay people, to dash around and slash people as he goes on. I think he's a Really cool champion and to be honest I cant say there's anything I dislike about him except he scales pretty quickly.( Im not a scaling expert but its just based on observation). Those are my thoughts about Yasuo. Edit: Side note, Yasuo having infinite resources as another player mentioned is also a thing too.
