Cho'Gath + Gargoyle Stoneplate

SB Arneeman·5/2/2017, 7:43:33 PM·38 votes·24,949 views

Cho'Gath ult scales with 10% bonus health. Gargoyle Stoneplate can double your health. Since it's true damage, it's unlikely to be reduced in damage. That means you can deal 2000+ true damage with a single ultimate, with max HP build and Gargoyle activated.

Does anyone else see a problem here?

Nice, now Cho Gath has like a 4 second Window every 60 or 90 seconds where he could be considered a viable champion.

Not really.... Cho'gath overall isn't overtly strong right now.

And in this case it reduces the damage of ALL his other abilities by 60%, so his q, or e, or w wont do shit. Which is A LOT of his damage

Take that away, and his ult having that much damag e in a very specific small window, doesn't seem all too outrageous....

.1x=2000 x10 x=20,000 ~~x is the amount of health cho gath has. ~~

In order for Cho Gath to deal 2k tru damage he would need 20,000 heath with Gargoyle Stoneplate. Without it he would need 10k. That's a shitload of stacks. EDIT: I suck at math.

go watch some videos there is one from bunnyfufuu that was like a 4k ult because rito

I think you forgot the part about the damage of people using Gargoyle's active dropping by 60%.

For 4 seconds, grow in size and gain bonus health equal to 40% of your maximum health, but reduce damage dealt by 60%. If Stone Skin is active, the health increase becomes 100% instead.

Even though it's True Damage, it will still be reduced by this effect because it's weakening Cho'Gath himself.

I doubt you'll reach the point of dealing 2000 true damage within a reasonable game though. There will certainly be outlier cases where this might be an issue, but they will probably be infrequent.

(Please note I'm rounding some numbers slightly for simplicity's sake, the variation is minimal) In order to deal 2000 damage, you need 650 (+10% bonus HP) = 2000, meaning 10% HP = 1350, or 100% Bonus HP = 13,500. In order to get that with stoneplate, you need at least 13,500 + ~1900 = 15,400, and 15,400 / 2 = 7,700 HP. Also consider that this requires being surrounded by all 5 enemy champions, which rarely happens around a cho anyway, and is even less likely after this item comes out. In order to have enough with only the 3 champ trigger, you need at least ~11,000 HP (11,000 x 1.4 = 15400).

Using the smaller number (7,700 HP) for the benefit of this example, that might not seem too absurd right now, but keep in mind that health items are being nerfed almost universally (by between 75 and 150 depending on the item), Stoneplate itself gives no health (meaning between it and boots you are limited to 4 health items max), and unless you build FH (which should be part of your core on tank Cho), you're not going to stack very quickly, in which case you're taking a 3rd non HP item out of 6 slots. With that in mind, even taking two high health items (say SV and Titanic, which is pretty strong on HP Cho) and a warmog's for your other 3, you only have ~3700 health. That means you need at least 4000 HP from stacks to get that kind of damage. For reference, that's 25 stacks. Even at max CDR and using feast on CD, that takes at least 18 minutes. This is not accounting for the fact that you won't have 45% CDR right away, because of which it will most likely take you closer to 25-30. Also, you can't get more than 6 stacks from non-champs, meaning you'll need 19 ult kills on champs, drakes, and Baron/Rift Herald.

The ONLY situation I can see this item potentially being an issue on Cho is if he flashes into Baron/Drake for a steal vs a 5 man team, in which case he could get away with a 2k ult within a reasonable health range, or in a game where it has stalled past 60 minutes and Cho has been able to stack an absurd amount (at which point you're screwed anyway, with or without stonplate).

No, the problem with Chogath's ult is getting in range, not the damage it deals.

Dude, I know that this interaction may sound scarry, but it will almost never occur in a game and if it happens you should have lost the game long ago.... a) he needs ~8k HP and be surrounded by 3+ guys b) he needs ~11k HP to get this dmg if less then 3 guys are near c) regarding average game time, HP nerfs on items, Very high amount of stacks (above 25)aka. alot of objectives & kills + time (in a 5v5 teamfight chogath gets only 1 stack at best!) without finishing the game. We are talking about a really really long game! Think about 50-60ish mins and more!

All in all you will very likely NOT see a Cho that is able to deal 2k truedmg with his ult. We did not take his potential AP into account, but at best the HP amount needed is lower by ~1k.

But you'd need to go a full HP build, which is shitty.

JuhnChan5/4/2017, 7:56:11 AM2 votes

I've already tested this. Against a well-rounded team with CC and mobility, this changes nothing. Cho still needs to buy other items in conjunction with Garg Plate like Protobelt or Dead man's Plate to be BOTH mobile enough to make the kill -and- be tanky enough to get to someone within 4 seconds while fighting against what at times feels like a legion of kites and CC.

This will rarely be an issue It's more likely that champions like Darius will be abusing it more since the scenarios for Darius to abuse are more likely

Guyy Fieri5/2/2017, 10:38:24 PM2 votes

As a cho'gath player, nope!

VirtuousViolence5/3/2017, 10:35:43 AM1 votes

Dont exactly see your Point, since its Bonus is only 40% of your Max HP, how do you get 100%, is there a Trick or are you just misinformed?

This...will be patched quickly...or cho will have an unexpected time in the spotlight with 100% pick/ban rate.
