Poke mages too weak

Poke mages have been outside the meta a long time now. With the new changes in patch 6.9, especially Ziggs and Xerath will be completely underplayed. They did recieve minor buffs: Ziggs can execute turrets with satchel charge, and Xerath now has 3/4/5 ult shots. However, the change to Vel'Koz makes him completely outclass them, as he deals a ton more damage in teamfights. Other mages that were already played more, has also received buffs.

Here are the reasons poke mages are shifting out of the meta:

  • Sustain. Water dragon is so powerful that most poke is negated by the regen, especially if there is more than one stack of the buff. There are also items like deaths dance, that gives a good amount of lifesteal without sacrificing combat stats.
  • Mobility meta. Most champions that are played right now have some kind of mobility, and especially adcs like lucian, ezreal and sivir makes poke less good.. Shorter range mages can also use the new rocket belt to gapclose.
  • Skill required is way higher than the strength of a siege comp. Only one person need to be engaged on for a fight to break out, and the siege comp has a disadvantage in an all out fight. In everything else than high elo 5-premade que, you can't keep fights from breaking out. Eventually, someone will be caught or engage themselves. Wombo combo teams or just straight out teams with individually strong champions(there are a bit too many of those a the moment) tend to work better.
  • Magic damage resistant minions. Poke and safe waveclear is basically the same thing, and current baron buff is a huge nerf to the waveclear that Ziggs and Xerath has.
  • Removal of mana regen. Nearly all items have now lost the additional mana regen, in exchange for flat mana. This is not good for poke mages at all.
  • No proper mastery keystone. Thunderlord is better for combo mages to help them oneshot squishies, and DFT deals very little damage since the skills are aoe.

Xerath is the champion I have the most champion points with, but he is just too weak for me to play him at the moment. He did get a recent buff, but since all the changes to champions and items and the current meta is bad for him, he's just too weak for me to play him right now. I usually built frost queens claim to get huge gold income and snowball into lategame, but it has gone from 150% to 75% increased mana regen, and it's just not that good any more. He scales too slowly now, as games tend to be decided before with the more important objectives and shorter games. I've played much Ziggs too in the past, but he's been bad for a long time now. Any decent enemy will dodge most of his extremely slow skill shots, making him pretty useless in teamfights.

All in all, the small buffs are not nearly enough to make poke mages viable, as all of the recent changes has made them worse overall even when including the buffs.

  • Gold/plat elo mage main

EDIT: Please post a reason behind it when downvoting. Everyone should understand that something is wrong when the poke mages Xerath and Ziggs are underplayed in both high and low elo, and never played in LCS anymore(Ziggs was played in lcs quite much in the past, but that was because of his waveclear. Riot has targeted this with direct and indirect nerfs.)

They can't make all types of champions equally good and that's why we have rotating meta... Fighters and poke mages may be weak now, but who knows what will happen after few months.

Those champs are not weak. They balanced. And in high elo or lcs people play only op or broken champs.I mean why should i play balanced champs if i can play broken or op champs and get my free elo.
