Precision Tree's Overheal and Maokai

So, I was experimenting with some runes and thought "hey, maokai has a heal, let's try overheal"

The way Maokai's heal works is that you auto attack while your passive is up and heal only when you're missing enough HP. The problem with this means that Overheal won't activate all the time, but there are some cases where it does overflow. This is pretty frustrating because I wanted to have a decent shield on Maokai basically all the time, but the interaction won't let me.

Is this intended or nah?

Probably just an interaction that was not thought through,as with all these new runes and mechanics it was kinda guaranteed that some champions kit's before the new runes aren't too compatible with what came out. might be changed in a patch or so,unsure.

Perhaps?

So his healing works by healing 6 to 13 % missing HP right?

Also Overheals rune is only 40% effective on self heals BUT is 300% more effective when receiving heals from allies.

Well if Overheal is only 40% effective on self heal, and the self heal ony heals 6 to 13% missing, and you're missing 0 HP, you overheal for 0 so you do NOT get a shield.

And lets say you are missing the 13%, you will heal your 13% missing hp so you have 100% total HP, you cannot overheal because you didn't overheal enough from sap magic to spill over into the shield.

If it does over flow into the shield, chances are it's being boosted by Spirits Visage or the base HP heal on passive is high enough to grant you a smidge of a shield.
