AP Renekton is Stupid.

Just tried it. Why have an ap ratio that is worthless? There's so many champs with useless ratios

Just because a champion has a ratio doesn't mean that you should play them with that ratio as a main focus of the kit. Sometimes it's easier to give a champion a ratio they wouldn't otherwise build to limit the overall power of an ability than it is to try and balance out a more useful scaling stat alongside base damages. This also creates a definitive line between early/mid game champions with strong harass from high base damages but who fall off late due to meh scalings (i.e. Renekton) and champions who have finicky early games with low base damages but who's ratios allow them to stomp in the late game (Riven.)

well your comment doesn't say anything about the ap ratio and how worthless it is to even put it there. there's literally no point.

Yeah, it was covered by people here. Maybe you just didn't understand:

First, Riot knows that it feels bad, as a player, to have a spell with absolutely no scaling. In cases where an AD Champion has a spell that they don't want scaling in typical play, they (typically) give it an AP ratio. That way, you CAN increase the damage, but you won't, in most cases. This aspect of it is almost purely psychological.

Second, it provides a means for some AD Champions to benefit from AP they have as a consequence of other things. For example, Trinity Force, Baron buff, old WotA aura, etc. Any AP they get, for whatever reason, actually has a use now. It's not a totally wasted stat. This does make some items more gold efficient for these characters, when they otherwise wouldn't be at all. Obviously, not every AD focused Champion has an AP ratio to use this, but quite a number do.

As for this specific ratio, even if it's small, it's still a buff to it if you ever do have bonus AP for some reason. Runes and Masteries are small on an individual basis, but you don't see people saying "There's no point in the 30th Mastery Point. Let's get rid of it." Small buffs are still buffs, and are still important.

Pretty sure that's just there to satisfy Trinity Force enthusiasts. AT THE VERY MOST, perhaps get Sorceror's Shoes and MAYBE Liandry's Torment if it has good (read: really, really, good) base Magic Damage (particularly if it's % HP damage). And that's REALLY situational - as in, your team has no Magic damage and the enemy is getting early armor.

AD champs have some AP ratios here and there to gate them back. It was very common in the original champions. Having both auto attacks and all your skills scale off of AD can be a balancing nightmare. Imagine if mages had autoattacks that scaled with say... 50% of their ap.

Nashor's Tooth + Arcane Blade is plenty. Thanks. lol

I was trying to illustrate a point. AD champs get 1:1 scaling on their auto attacks with AD that's why giving them 4 AD scaling abilities to top it off is overkill and nigh impossible to balance.

Why would you even try him AP?? lol

You should play it because it was done in LCS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRTfhbP-ZBU He was clearly using Sseth's MLG AP Renekton guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpSIKBF1IiA
