How do I climb/Hard Carry

Lightsity··1 votes·702 views

You guys literally keep saying keep a positive mindset, take breaks, evaluate yourself, working on cs, etc etc Quite honestly I'm not perfect and have room to improve, but can we keep the honesty of the fact that since ive dropped from Silver 1 to 2 The feeders are only getting worse. I can deal with feed, but I can't deal with a mix or feed, toxicity, and afking, every game. Its hard to improve yourself, and mindset if this consecutively happens. So can I get some actual feedback on how to hard carry. Its easy to carry, and help one or two behind, but when those one or two can't listnen to simply directions or get caught more and more, its quite hard. How do I carry hard, enough to almost foolproof the chance of people messing it up.

Just git gud... Not sure what else there is to it, pick a champion you're good at and can deal good aoe damage or someone who has the kit to carry a fight. Don't make any mistakes yourself.

Doesn't really help me.

Don't play tanks whos only job is to tank, even if you get a lead, it would still be mostly up to your team to do the carrying in the fights. It is much easier to climb by making proactive plays yourself than to rely on others to do the "right" thing. You can get better at you, but you cant really get better at them being them.

Honestly, I found I didn't really have to hard-carry games in Silver.

They all tended to result in everyone randomly grouping around objectives randomly and essentially playing an ARAM after laning phase ends.

I just picked champions with good waveclear/poke and catch potential to take advantage of this pattern. I think my main champions at that ELO were Ziggs, Varus and Gragas.

I looked at your stats.

Things I noticed.

  • You play too many champions stick to 2 MAYBE a 3rd to have in your back pocket for roles. Try to get better with the champions you excel with.
  • I actually had a hard time figuring out your secondary role? It looks like you main Mid and then your secondary is ADC or Support? And you sometimes play top/jungle (not too often it looks like). Pick 2 roles and ONLY play those in ranked. Don't screw around in other roles if you want to climb, get better at the roles you play. I had to give up trying to play mid because I stunk at it once I hit Gold. I now just play Top or Support. You do want a 3rd role if there is a situation where you need to switch in champion select with a teammate. I have had to play mid when the circumstances call for it. Dodge if you get the two roles you don't play often. It is that simple.
  • After kills your first thought should not be to back but "how can I help secure or secure an objective". A lot of Silver players back after kills to buy items but sometimes backing after kills makes your team miss opportunities
  • You don't actually play a carry champ in the mid lane and that might be why you sometimes lose games. Ahri is a great champion but she is more oriented towards teamwork. If your team is incompetent you will have a harder time winning games. I am not saying you should stop playing this champion. I am just saying "hard carrying" with this champion specifically is harder because her later game scaling is not great compared to other mages. You probably already know this, but I think it should still be pointed out that the champion you play is a "mid tier" "team-oriented" champion relative to other mages. Fizz can carry sort of. He is another champion that has seen minor nerfs and needs kills. Even if he is fed he kind of drops off the longer the game goes. I mean his job is to kill a target quickly. Once he takes out the priority target, it isn't like he can "kill them faster" before that kill through itemization. So the longer the game goes with an assassin who is already ahead the less likely you are too win. He isn't a hyper-carry. Annie may be a better choice over Fizz because she brings CC to the table AND can delete people AND scales better.
  • Climbing out in the bottom lane in silver is hard. Either as a support or an ADC. I use to think my support play was bad, so I played Top or Mid. Once I got into mid-upper gold though, I realize that my support was pretty decent if I had an ADC that was decent. Most of the ADC mains are pretty good and respond when you make plays. In Silver ADC skills vary substantially and some are just farm bots or only want to kill things. There are time and places for engages and farming. Most ADCs in gold have a better idea of when that is AND respond. Because of this, my win rate on support went up actually after my account got out of Silver and lower gold. I may have gotten better, but I practiced the role a lot in normals and I can immediately tell the skill of the adc after a few minutes. If the ADC is NOT good I ONLY play a disengage game. You may want to adopt this when you support.
  • You may want to take TP when playing mid. This is not to say that ignite is bad, BUT with TP you can get to lane quicker to pressure the mid tower earlier AND you have some agency when it comes to roams to help other lanes. It looks like you do pretty well mid most of the time, you may not need ignite.
  • Try to avoid helping losing lanes on roams. Help the winning lanes more often. By losing I am saying 0/2 or 0/3 starts. You can help the bottom lane if they start out 0/2 (the support and ADC each die once). But once they are 0/4 you need to focus not on helping them. Helping losing lanes "catchup" does not push your own lead or other teammates who are doing well.

I can't think of too much else. I think carrying from the mid lane is easier in silver than it is at other Elo levels because that lane can snowball quickly and Silver players are easily discouraged.

Thanks this was quite detailed. I will take this into practice, had no internet for a moment, any suggestions on champions to adapt into hardcarries. I was looking to Katarina, and Lux as those are the last two of my 4 mid champs. I main mid and Bot. I want to main support, but that is quite harder in this elo range, so I fill it when needed.

Your runes, masteries, and kda are all shit.

You flip flop too much.

You build poorly.

You transition poorly.

You put points into abilities badly.

You don't know what's cost effective when and why.

You're all over the place with your shit, and that 98% guarantee carries over into your thought process which is also most likely shit.

I can change that if you want, but that's up to you.
