Support Cassiopeia

What makes Cass a viable support?

  1. Deadly Poke
  2. Decent Burst
  3. Zone Control
  4. AOE Slow
  5. AOE Stun/Slow
  6. Capable of Preventing Ganks With Q/W/R
  • With Cassiopeia's current passive requiring her to keep her enemies poisoned in order for it to stack quickly, having two enemies at your disposal throughout laning phase is to your advantage!

  • Noxious Blast and Miasma not only will increase your stacks, but the poison ticks also proc item 3303 when you are in range! That's one wealthy snake!

  • Cass has the ability to sneak in an AA between her E's putting item 3100 to good use especially early when you need to harass as much as possible. Q+AA also gives some nice gold while not using as much mana

  • With her Noxious Blast now giving 20MS at all ranks, item 3113 is a really attractive pickup to make her even more slippery. Also builds into your Lich Bane!

  • With her passive giving her built in AP and Spellvamp, the support role has never looked more appealing! "I do like to get up close and personal."

I tend to try more unique builds with Support Cass if my AP carry is doing their job efficiently. You will rarely reach full build as a support, but any of the situational items can be placed in the final slot for core build. Banner of Command is starting to see a resurgence for it's pushing potential and magic resist; since my build focuses on in-fight movement speed, Banner fits in nicely.

Core item 3060item 3100item 3116item 3282item 2045 Situationalitem 3001 item 3157 item 3089 item 3151 item 3026

Counters to Cass Supp:

Blitzcrank ThreshLeona **These champions have hard enough cc and gap closing potential to put Cass in a very dangerous position. **

Cassiopeia And that's all I have for now! Cassiopeia Please feel free to add your experiences with Cass support below!

I've played support Cass. She has nice damage, but she automatically pushes her lane and occasionally takes creeps unintentionally. Not to mention she's ultra squish.

I haven't really had issues with pushing my lane, but I think as long as you are aware of that possibility, you can counteract it to a degree.

The squish factor and immobility are the most noticeable drawbacks I have seen.

I find her to be a really fun niche pick a la Brand

The new Karma? lol No.

She needs an ACTUAL rework not a number twist with a layer-like passive.

I'm not really here to comment about her rework. I'm finding ways to have fun with the current iteration even though I enjoyed support Cass pre-rework aswell.

I used to play it occasionally pre-rework. But with her gutted base damage on Q/W my primary reason for playing her support was eliminated. The damage that she could deal out was much higher in the laning phase, especially since her CD on Q was lower and she had a mana-conserving passive. Enemy healing/shielding supports were helplessly losing damage mitigation battle. Tanky supports learned they really weren't tanky at all. And all-ins against Cass and her adc were nearly impossible to win until she ran low on mana.

Her damage has definitely shifted more to her E so I can see why you aren't attracted to it anymore.

Her Q-E combo still does nice damage and upped her dueling potential for when enemies try to all-in during laning phase.

The flat MS buff is such a benefit IMO that it outweighs her decreased poison damage.

The pre-Stashu'd Cassiopeia was gold-hungry enough.

The new one is even MORE of a resource whore and she actually revolves around farming so that she can return to her old power-level...all the while being over-all weaker early in the game.

Yeah no. Isn't going to work. If you want to try weird ways to play Cassiopeia, bring her top against a melee champion that you know won't have any gap-closers at all. But never a Support. If the pre-trainwreck Cass can't do it, what makes you think the new can?

Lastly, she has a horrible AA animation for Lichbane.

actually, pre-reworked Cass was viable as support, she even got played in LPL (Chineese League)

she was fun because you would build HG then Liandry and proceed to burn everyone by poking with just 1 item lol

i used to play her a little, but sadly, her rework made her way weaker in the support role, since she was mainly used for the Q+W poke and the AOE stun, while now her poke deals no damage most of the times

Chortle1 votes

Her poke did decrease, but her ability to skirmish with the enemy bot lane is still solid imo

VDc0zCqe0w4 votes

it is even more solid, since she deals more damage with E and faster, problem is that with Cass support you don't exactly want to duel them at your weakest point in the game (while she used to be really really strong early pre-rework), you want to poke them slowly

another problem is that tear of goddes is mandatory now, you simply can't skip it since she lost her old passive

she was better pre-rework as support, could still be playable tho

another problem is that you can't choose mobility boots, you have to go sorc's 100% of the time, and sorcs are really expensive (her whole build is expensive), she's not like Zyra who can go mobility (and should go mobility) and pick off people with the snare, Cass got no pick skills except her ult wich you do not want to waste most of the times

He/she wont get it. But continue please, its hilarious.

I think the item set should go more like this: Core; item 3092 item 3151 item 3116 item 2045 Boots; item 3158 item 3020 Situational; item 3174 item 3100 item 3023 item 3135 item 3001 item 3060 item 3157

Maybe the Grail should be core, though...

As someone who's like 8/2 Cass support (in normals so take it with a grain of salt) you pretty much should just build normally. Her passive stacks faster than Mid Cass, so Rabadons rush honestly is usually the best idea.

I personally get Q to level 2, then max E. Use Q for stacks and to get spellthief gold. Her goal is pretty much to zone early.

Don't really like Lichbane, it doesn't flow well with her. Rylias is great, especially on support Cass

I'm glad to see other people are playing Cassiopeia as a support! I've had great success with support Cass, though it's not really something I would take to solo queue. I generally only play Cass support when I am playing with some of my most regular teammates with voice chat, and stick to playing more traditional supports with strangers. That way, I can influence my team composition enough to ensure that sacrificing typical support utility for bot lane poke will not ruin the team. She seems to do well with ADCs who have some crowd control and poke of their own, like Jinx.

As far as builds go, I usually just build like mid Cass after Frostfang and Sightstone. That means item 3027 and/or item 3003 , item 3257 , item 3089 , and situational items (item 3116 , item 3001, item 3065 , etc.). Since I build to be an APC, I like to have a tank or utility champ elsewhere on the team to ensure that team support items (item 3105 and the like) are built as they are needed.

I am, of course, compelled to mention that this support main would like to see a little more work done on his favorite mid-laner. As often stated by the likes of Ginga, Cleopatra, and company, her passive (though significantly improved by 4.21; thank you, Stashu!) is rather silly. I would like to see it be a little more interesting than a bag of stats, and I would like Cassiopeia to more strongly fit the "poison mage" theme.

No, just no... Cass doesn't work as a support beyond "blind pick" games.

And there's no point whatsoever to get a Lich Bane on her... if you somehow manage to AA between your E's, you are doing it wrong and too slow. Even DFG would be a better choice and Banner of Command is not really worth... not to mention, you have zero Mana items in your "core" build, so you will run into those issues pretty soon, especially after laning phase.

Cass doesn't work as a Support. She cannot protect her ADC like others can... picking a proper/real Support will always be more beneficial to your team. If you want poking etc. , pick Karma ffs.
