I just realized old Poppy had a place in this game...

She wasn't meant to be a tank. She wasn't meant to be a wall. She wasn't meant to have AoE and tiny knockups and no damage. She was meant to be an assassin. With lower HP, almost every lategame attack does at least 10% of your maximum HP. That's like a tiny end of the bar! With her Q critting and being magic damage, a oneshot build with Void staff and crit burst makes her amazing! She had movement speed burst, a gapcloser that can maybe cc to lock down an ADC for a second or so, and her ult gave her a bit of protection while she dived onto the backline and oneshot the ADC with her critting and her magic pen and her stattikk shiv. She was PERFECT. She was beautiful and you killed her, Riot.

(This video made me realize that she could be an assassin. Then I started thinking about her kit...)

Poppy's issue was that she had virtually NO counterplay, had her ult been reworked into something like a malzahar passive, where you take reduced damage from spells and block cc for a certain amount of time, it wouldn't be that bad compared to being able to ult the support janna and charge at the backline.

I liked the champion she used to be. Unfortunately, being different means having "no counterplay" and being "toxic to playa against," thus Riot removes such champions and gameplay. Refer to Sion.

I loved old poppy (yes I said it). She was in some ways better than the poppy now. Yes she had issues and I admit that but, I feel that too many people complained and that's why she got reworked (more like overhauled if you ask me). The newer poppy is better but she's even more broken than she was before.

She was fucking aids, with her hour-long Olaf-Kayle ult. The one champion that actually became stronger if you tried to 2v1 her.

Riot could have kept Poppy as a Diver pretty easily, but for whatever reason they turned her into a Tank instead.

All they would have had to do is make it so Poppy's Ult makes it so her damage only works on the ulted target rather than letting her molest the whole enemy team after Ulting Soraka or whatever. It would have been an enforced duel, which is my understanding of what the skill was intended to do.

And you know, funny thing about it?

Even over in Dominionland Poppy was never more than pretty good at best. And that map catered to her about as hard as possible with the non-existent farm and ample walls. Most full VGUs have felt more like a failure in imagination than anything else.

Her ult was insanely broken and unfun. Kayle ain't got shit on her.

The new ult is better. It has a windup time, can be dodged, brings a lot of utility, etc.

I'm just a casual observer as as you make a post in Gameplay about Old Poppy having a niche that many people here have PTSD over and wonder why they don't get the joke.

Most people expect their jokes to come in Memes and Games, just saying.

She was an anti-carry, while being the trolliest champ in league and I played the crap out of her.

  1. First aspect people hated was her passive, which would make her misleadingly tanky and bait people to their doom unless True damage was used.
  2. She could make it so the ADC never saw the light of day, she was an assassin who'd kill people in broad daylight with witnesses all around.
  3. Combining the 2 you could go kill the ADC and then walk out.
