The boards have me terrified

Are the changes in patch 6.9 really that bad? Or are people being over dramatic? Haven't had a chance to play yet today.

Downvote's are fun. Honest question clearly deserves it.

People are always over-dramatic on the Boards.

People are overreacting a bit, have to get used to the changes

Simple Moon1 votes

That's sort of what I figured. We all fear change.

I have not really seen that many posts, which surprises me. Makes me think it can't be that bad... Although I am worried about the attack speed jungle item and rageblade changes. I originally thought they were nerfing rageblade and the junglers that use it but it sounds like that is not true.

Look under the "New" tab instead of "Best" or "Hot"

People are knee jerking often without even having tried the changes out.

Vistha Kai1 votes

I've said that countless of times.

Sometimes you don't need to test a change to know it's unfounded and thoughtless.

For example Vlad lost his core item, but on top of that was nerfed across the board, thus becoming a weak sauce and pretty much everybody seen this one a mile away.

How can you salvage reworked Vlad? By buying... spellvamp item 3146.

I haven't seen anything that bothered me, a lot is still the same. Most of the people I've actually seen complaining are the guinsoo's builders who aren't quite as op so early in the game.

There's one thing that bothered me, and that's at about 35-40min into a game, Malzahar solo'd baron.

Is there more importance on taking dragons/herald?

Yes.

Is there more importance on taking dragons/herald?

A lot more, herald more so than drag early on but both are something that will become a must try pretty early in games once people get used to this patch.

Some of the changes to brand/malz I've noticed have had some pretty profound impacts in the games I've played.

Can't say with any authority on the others though.

Baby Ghoul1 votes

Same.

From what I gather though most people don't want to play against Malzahar. I haven't seen anything on dragons yet.

The thought of the new Protobelt-01 dash active being built on Annie enabling much more frequent pseudo flash-ults is rather terrifying though.

The changes overall aren't too bad it's a Numbers problem. stuff does either 0 damage to champions or does a shit ton.

it's a problem that should have been fixed in the PBE but they brought it to live so mages are getting bumble bumped. on top of this the taking away of alot of Mana regen has made alot of non-burst mages that rely on mana regen into complete trash. spell vamp being taken away has made Vlad and Mord into basically garbage right now. they added Delays to alot of spells so alot of shit is too slow and easy to avoid. there is alot more but i don't feel like going into a ton of detail

Basically put as i said crap that should have been addressed in PBE has been brought to live and it's just an awful unbalanced mess of things.

Vistha Kai1 votes

For the love of God, stop with this "spell vamp has been removed" crap already.

Yes, Vlad's item of choice was removed, but that's about it. Mordekaiser can still buy the Gunblade, and I bet it'll become Vlad's new core item soon enough.

Agreed on the PBE. It's fucking pointless. Blatantly obvious changes that shouldn't go live were released in an unchanged state. My server is basically unoperational since the patch went live.

Baron von Jiggly1 votes

ok let me rephrase it.

Spell Vamp was reduced to one single hybrid fucking item that has less build potential on the full AP champ that is Vlad and any other Full champs with 0 AD scaling like Mord that might have benefit from spell vamp.

The changes are big, hard to say what and how bad.

There is the usual overstatements on a lot of things. Malz is very strong, but I mopped the floor with him using Vel'koz. Vel is also very strong, but he still can be outplayed since he is more combo dependent now. Swain is improved but I wouldn't say OP. I also like the changes to Annie, she is strong, but less toxic IMHO. I haven't faced or played any of the other mages yet.

They're actually awesome.

So far I'm having a blast but only time will tell if the balance is right.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Look over those mage changes.

None of them. Exactly none fix any problems.

Quite contrary, only create new ones.

Brand's ult no longer targets minions if the champ was not ablaze Zyra's passive, which was either #1 or in the top 3 worst passives in the game, was replaced with something that fit her much more thematically. (it even says in her lore that she knew that if she died in her "animal" form, there would be no back up plan/ escape route.) TIBBERS IS NOW USEFUL Cassiopia is now both spell spammy AND poison focused Malzahar now seems like a prophet of the void, constantly summoning more and more of the void to runeterra. Vlad was changed so he could actually be balanced, since spell vamp plus his natural healing was hard to get into a good spot. Anivia looks better Fiddle had a few gameplay buffs Swain now plays like a tactician, instead of just a morph-into-a-bird-and-kill-them person Xerath no longer throws water balloons when he ults Ziggs now has a reason to be picked over Lux and Xerath if you want an artillery mage

And you call that not fixing any problems. Granted, most of the fixes were with theme, but what is a champ who's theme isn't the same as how they play? Old Poppy. You get old Poppy. A tank that was most effective at assassinating people.(not good)

The Last Ballad1 votes

Dramatic. Some person was complaining about how Malzahar's passive was up every 6 seconds, and how this is a problem for the laning phase. The 6 second cooldown is only for lvl 18, and the cooldown resets(goes back to 6) any time you are damaged by anything that is not a minion. So at lvl 5, you would have to wait 19 seconds without taking champion damage to get it back. With the enemy laner trying to prevent that. Good luck getting that passive multiple times per fight.

Another person complained about how Zyra's passive was useless and random, but if you were not dying (as you are suppose to be trying not to do) the old passive was even more useless. And the delay was horrible on the old one too.
