Add Mid Game Items because the item shop is boooring
The LOL shop is too one dimensional. You slowly build up your items until you combine all the right things to have your cookie cutter late game build. There is so little meaningful variation in what you build. Maybe you add a little armor pen or healing debuff into your build but that's really it. I want to see itemization progression that is more than just 'final build.'
The way to do this is to add dedicated early and mid game items that don't build into late game items. Think mid-game Dorans items. These items would have great gold efficiency for early/mid-game but become a liability later on. These items would add more strategy to the game through itemization. Got an early lead in lane? Lets really put on the pressure by getting a mid-game item or two. Maybe your opponent thinks they can withstand the pressure so they go slow and steady building to late game items. Maybe it doesn't pay off for the guy with the lead and going into late game they're forced to forfeit some of their gold lead to re-itemize. Or maybe the mid-game item strat pays off and the game is finished before late game. I think just a few of these mid-game items could affect the meta in some really fun ways. Like shifting power-spikes or changing early/late game team comps and whatnot

What kind of stat/items do you think would work? I have a few ideas.
