Shoving during lane phase

So during laning phase, I get you usually shove after kiling the opponent in order to deny the cs for the enemy and maybe create a bounce back to yourself ( In case the wave wouldn't push towards you on its own). However, what if I am in a situation where I cannot push fast enough and have no jungler to help me out AND I have a minion advantage? If I try to push, the wave will crash into the opposing one before tower and the enemy can freeze. If I just leave the wave and back, the same thing happens (due to me having more minions) only a bit further towards my side but I'll lose out on their minions as well. So what's the right decision here?

This is a good question I didn't ever expect to see posted here It really depends on how low you are/where the enemy jungle is

Even if pushing the wave will mean the enemy gets back to lane before you can recall, you should probably just push it But if you have reason to believe the enemy jungler is going to gank you while you attempt to shove it, then just recall because the risk isn't worth it If they freeze then shove it back as soon as you get back to lane, or ask your jungler to help you do so if that seems too risky alone Or assuming you're healthy enough on hp/mana, wait until the next cannon minion wave spawns, shove as its coming to lane and then back

It's not a simple decision to make, and you have to take into consideration several variables that depend on your lane and the jungle matchups, cannon minion wave timing, and how fast you can push before the enemy makes it back

I probably forgot something but I haven't played since December because my wrist is bothering me

So I'd do this so that their cannon wave crashes into my normal one and starts pushing it back (before my cannon arrives)? Also, in case I already have a cannon on lane, isn't it really bad to push it into a tower since the cannon minion will tank it for so long that the enemy won't lose out on a lot of CS?

Good luck with your wrist by the way!

I meant it as in you recall while your cannon is coming to lane The idea is the enemy won't be able to shove fast enough to deny the entire wave as the cannon wave will take longer to kill You want the cannon waves to arrive before the enemy can finish pushing the previous waves, and then your cannon wave takes way longer to kill so you shouldn't miss too much CS if they push to tower since the enemy cannon will soak up tower aggro for a while

If you have cannon waves in your lane and you believe it might get frozen if you don't push it, then you'd want to shove it anyways Sure they might not miss that much but its better than having it frozen on you If it will stay even or push to you then yeah it's fine to back But again, it's situational based on the game
