Is there no more ranked shielding?

I just promoted to gold 1, lost a game and took a break. Come back about a week later after finishing some midterms and get auto-filled jungle. Didn't really mind, but lost that game. Then load into match results to see my main rank demoted back to gold 2. Like what happen to the approximate 3 losses at 0 LP before you demote?
