Summoner spells should not be locked behind level.

nothing that affects gameplay should be locked behind this shitty system, levels should only be for ranked.

its no wonder why its so hard for people to get into this game when half of the game is locked to them.

I think it's good that the more complex Summoner Spells are for later levels. New players get to learn what each Summoner Spell does and they don't get overwhelmed with a bunch at once.

Ghost and Heal are untargeted abilities, the easiest abilities to use. (Heal does have a targeted component but it can be used without a target.) You get them at level 1. Barrier is another untargeted ability and you get it at level 4. Exhaust is a targeted ability and it doesn't have easy to understand effects for a new player so I think it would be better if its level requirement and Ignite's were swapped. (A movespeed slow is somewhat easy to understand, but a new player would likely have exceeding amounts of difficulty using Exhaust to reduce someone's damage output.) Cleanse is another untargeted ability but its effects are less easy to understand and it is difficult to use effectively, so it's understandable that it is unlocked at level 6. I honestly think level 8 is more appropriate but I get why Flash is unlocked all on its own without any other accompanying Summoner Spells - Riot wants players to focus on Flash. Teleport is a targeted ability but it is pretty easy to use and easy to see why it is so powerful. Level 6 is understandable. Flash is a skillshot and it is really versatile. It is easy to use but I don't think most new players would be able to appreciate its effects. Ignite's level 10 requirement is something I don't understand. I feel like this is a case where a spell is level locked because it is a cool spell and Riot wants new players to try and unlock this cool spell. It is an easy to use, easy to understand targeted spell. Smite's level 10 requirement is completely understandable. It is very difficult to jungle without many mastery points and rune slots, and most new players wouldn't understand how to jungle anyways. It is a much more difficult role to get into than laning.

Now, as for the unfairness aspect, yes it is a bit unfair, but since everyone is new, players won't be able to use the Summoner Spells to their full capabilities (for example, I got executed three times when I tried to jungle as Rek'Sai for the first time despite being instructed by my friend and being Rek'Sai, who was pretty broken at the time I was playing her). Furthermore, players level up quite quickly in the early levels so the spells will not be locked for long at all.

They should at least make flash available from the start since it's so imperative to the game.

UnboundHades6/24/2017, 4:57:32 AM4 votes

well it isnt that hard to just you know level up

AwesomeGuyDj6/24/2017, 1:23:04 PM3 votes

Agreed its a problem that new players cant simulate normal league with a jungler.

Yeah it's never really made any sense to me.

Riot: Here play this game with other people on different playing fields.

We'll incorporate runes (that requires grinding), rune pages (that require even more grinding, or money) and summoner spells/masteries that can only be unlocked past certain levels so that when you go up against someone with summoner spells/masteries that you are unable to get, you have a fair chance!

Summoner Spells being locked behind player levels is done for one simple reason: It doesn't allow new players from being overwhelmed by every possible option to play this meta. So, once you level up to level 30, you unlock more options to play this game.

It is as simple as that. For the same reason, runes slots and masteries are also locked by level. With every level, you unlock one slot that allows you to be a bit stronger and understand how each stat affects your champion. Simply barraging you with stats and summoner spells you know nothing about makes for a poor first timer experience.

Imagine if you are expected to Jungle from level one and you don't know a single thing about how lane works, how minions and turrets work and you're being put into a lane that doesn't have any interactions with your teammates. You wouldn't even know how to start playing the game.

Neither do Masteries and Runes, only thing locked behind level is ability to play ranked,at some point they should overhaul leveling system fully. Its so outdated and makes no sense apart from not being able to play ranked which new players should not be able to do.

So, unlike the vast majority of games, League shouldn't put gameplay related content behind a level cap? That seems foolish.

I actually just made a HUGE thread about things to make the game better for new players and cant believe i forgot this one wow. Take an upvote cause yeah this is bullshit like the first 5 or 6 levels of the game you HAVE to play no jungle cause NO ONE HAS SMITE!?!?!?!?!? Like shouldnt a NECESSARY summ spell for a specific role be available always?

Morticianjohn6/25/2017, 2:59:22 AM1 votes

At least smite should be available at all levels since they made the summoner spell mandatory for jungle

Tobias Brackner6/25/2017, 7:50:52 AM1 votes

Yes they should

This game is complicated as fuck.

If you overload people with info they'll drop shit super fast.
