First things first, sorry if this wrong board. Pretty new to this board thing. As for the main topic I have question on my favourite champion, Nocturne. Question being why does everyone always say to build tank or assassin Nocturne. I think that fighter Nocturne works amazing becoming an amazing late game diver after an engage. However I don't play ranked so correct me if I am wrong.

I think you're confusing something. People don't build him into a Tank. That's just not possible. They build him durably. And "assassin" is just building him with lots of damage. No matter what items you build, his kit stays the same. It's just finding the right balance of "Do enough damage" and "Don't get exploded by Brand".
ƒæµ1 votesNoc is great because you are able to build a wide variety of viable items on him. Same reason I main Teemo for so long, I can build different things each game to fill the needs of my team and have a lot of success. Same goes for noc (and Vi IMO), if your team needs dmg then you should get fighter with like a triforce etc, you can tank, or assassin, but imo Assassin Noc is kind of odd unless your team DESPERATELY needs it. :)
Cale0171 votesNocturne is essentially a fighter who plays like an assassin. He specializes in taking out targets who are out alone when they shouldn't be, but he's at his best when he's just ripping into two or three people at a time... provided you're suitably fed.
Oldypants1 votesHe's definitely a DPS fighter who acts like an assassin during teamfights with his ult. I don't know about you, but all the nocturnes i play against and with get a mix of damage and defence.

Xela Syab1 votesAm I the only one who gets IE and YG on Noc? It seems like if you can't kill a champ in a few hits you should back off and find a new target. I don't like tanky/bruiser noc because his base health armor stats are so low and his lack of defensive skills (besides shield) and the fact that he's designed as an assassin. Play him as he's designed bros hes fun to get triple kills off of tanks and sups.
FantasySniper1 votesPeople pretty much build him either bruiser or melee carry. His whole schtick is being a diver, so both options work, it just depends on how long you want to live during teamfights, and how much damage your team needs to kill their carry.
Ahh ok thank you all for clearing that up. I was confused because recently I been reading some forums that mentioned him either going assassin or tank.
