The most frustrating thing about soloq as a veteran player

Hello everyone,

I appreciate you all taking the time to read this post. Essentially I am making this post to create another discussion around Voice chat. As someone who has been playing since season 1 I have noticed one prevailing certainty about ranked league of legends. The system in the context of North American players rewards dedication, and mechanical prowess over strategical understanding of the game. Very quickly I will cite why I believe this to be the case before relating it to voice chat in League of Legends. The mystery of NA solo q has been one no one clearly understands, but what is certain is that it lacks in quality compared to other regions for a variety of reasons that I will briefly mention. I will not be citing sources directly - I will however comment who makes these claims. Firstly, Koreans that came to compete in NA believe that soloq is worst, EU players who come to NA (nisqy in his early season interview with travis gafford) believes that NA soloq is worst than EU soloq. Doublelift constantly comments around international stages who other regions solo is higher quality. Reasons generally consist of "smaller player base, North American culture in relation to video games, and the streamer life being greater than the professional life".

Why this matters in relation to Voice Chat. My claim comes from my own observations after years of playing. At my peak I was diamond 3 during season 6. The climb was relatively easy and my stats of my top champions had very good ratios. (Shortly after season 6 I scarcely played until recently). During my climb what became apparent was the need to hone skills specific towards dominating lane on specific champions. The play style of lane domination (being way better than your enemy laner on a powerful meta champion) was way more important than any other skillset. After returning to league my knowledge has not decreased, and I notice even now the inability for lower level players to make good decisions. I am unable to have the same impact on the game, because my skills have deteriorated. Although I have gotten worse mechanically, I COULD lead my teams to more wins given the chance to communicate with them. From my experience playing other non console voice games - I feel as if the toxicity is actually less than in a voiceless game. It reminds you we are all human. We lose with more grace, and we win with more teamwork. I believe voice chat should be added - For those who have leadership qualities. The best players will be mechanically, and mentally sound. But at the moment a smarter player would have trouble reaching the elo of a mechanical one trick simply because that skillset is not necessary in North America. Let me lead others to victory. Why deprive a veteran from sharing his knowledge? I am not that great to my teammates at times I will give you that - But most of my frustration is from the inability to articulate to them things of strategic value.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post - I hope you all have a good day. If you agree or disagree by all means let me know.
