League is at a state in the game where it's not even enjoyable to play anymore.

This may be just me, but I don't enjoy games that are sometimes not even 15 minutes long because of snowballing being out of control. I don't like one sided games where it's just open mid over and over again. I don't like afk split push top laners like Tryndamere, Nasus, Udyr, Yorick who take Demolisher and do nothing but apply pressure top lane the entire game. I don't like the ganking meta where if you get ganked in the bot lane and die once, the lane is over. I don't like how you get 600 gold for free for taking the first tower. I don't like future market exists to further on press your advantage and keep your lead even further for no reason. I don't like looking at people's OP.GG's and saying "oh, we just lose" because the matchmaking is complete dog shit and Riot is apparently aye ok with it. Honestly, I could play a game of Hearthstone and it would last longer than what these games are lasting.

Let me make this clear; I don't even enjoy winning the game anymore. I miss the competitive aspect of League, not the "Well the score is 11/2 by the 12 minute mark, I guess we win. Woohoo?" You're not allowed to fuck up once, like at all, or the game is just over. How is this fun? How is it fun and compelling for the enemy team to just watch the game go into the enemy teams favor with nothing to comply with? Come backs are just impossible, straight up. You aren't allowed to farm your way back into the game because the game is already over before you can start.

Baron steal is pretty much the only way you can comeback in higher ranks.

Nayzumi23 votes

If it even gets to that point in the game lmao, people will just take rift Herald and auto win the game.

AMYS GRAVE4 votes

Trying for baron as the winning team is a trap right now, there is no way that the losing team can resist a push from the winning team even without baron.

Baron steal is pretty much the only way you can comeback in higher ranks.

And as far as comebacks go that is most toxic and frustrating way to have your win stolen

Let's talk about matchmaking: unranked + Bronze botlane, against Diamond + Gold. Of course it was a normal, of course it was disgusting :D

Nayzumi5 votes

Ive made this discussion already, how I got placed against a challenger player on a level 23 account and how I get placed with a master teir player on gold 3 flex.

Boya1 votes

isn't that normals? or flex? flex has always had unfair match making and there is no fix to that rly until more people play flex. lower player base = long q time = unfair match making.

Oxyrotten1 votes

That and there's no reason a master tier shouldn't be able to flex que etc with a lower tier.

The problem is when in solo ranked you get matched against that master tier carrying his friend, I'm not sure they shouldn't be allowed to do that, but it's not fair for sure.

Starcraft243ver1 votes

It's a normal game. Nothing to change here.

This is what happens when a company turns a competitive game into a casual one. Riot's main focus is on RNG, overpowered runes, and overpowered champions.

Mid-season 8 changes are going to solidify my statement, believe me. We'll see power-items and summoner spells randomly spawn under our feet and will have in-game quests.

Someone needs to screenshot this post and repost it when mid-season 8 gets released.

zero3564 votes

Riot for the past couple of years have been doing the exact opposite, turning a casual game competitive Or at least, that's what they say they've been trying to do

Hong Kong Annie5 votes

This game has always been competitive

zero3562 votes

I know, I was responding to the statement

He said

This is what happens when a company turns a competitive game into a casual one

Which is the exact opposite of what's been happening and runs counter to Riot's stated intentions for the game

Hong Kong Annie5 votes

But they have been making the game more and more casual. It's not the exact opposite it's exactly what's been happening

zero3563 votes

stated intentions

Regardless of what they've done, they want the game to be more competitive Whether or not they have succeeded or failed is an entirely different question

And I would say the game is far more competitive now than it was when I started (mid season 3)

Ipressbutton2 votes

I think you are right that the game started out casual and then they started chasing the competitive scene once they saw how much money they could make off of LCS. I think the game was much more competitive back in s2-3. Snowball mechanics do not work in Solo Q, they are fine in a team environment where every player is on the same page and doesn't make game throwing mistakes, which is exactly what LCS is.

Basically LCS ruined this game and I will fight anyone who disagrees item 1051

TheSingularity3 votes

I think it's more so a competitive game into an esports spectacle.

It's all about as flashy as possible, as fast as possible

Sõna1 votes

That's what happened when Tencent bought Riot's game.

big boi edri1 votes

This is going to be a really unpopular opinion in this circle jerk of a hate thread, but I feel like Riot does a pretty decent job of balancing the game for casuals and competitive alike. You balance too much for competitive and the game isn't fun for normal people, do a 180 and there is no decent competitive scene. There's a good line that needs to be hit which I feel Riot lands around fairly well.

Side note, I'm not talking about the actual state of balance in the game, just the general balancing act they put out between the two gaming environments.

Sujiren20 votes

The main problem is Riot keeps adding more and more ways to kill towers, but no ways to defend them. First it was changing baron from boost to regen into almost undefendable super minions, then mountain and fire drakes, rift herald and even this absurd demolish rune, that allows tanks to do 1k or so damage to turrets mid to lategame.

Psybicilin1 votes

Shouldn't the game be wrapping up anyways around mid to late game?

Qiyeanu Reeves1 votes

Shouldn't the game be wrapping up anyways around mid to late game?

sure but they don't need demolish? this didnt add or solve anything it just created isses. games wrapped up just fine mid/late before, but now it makes it far harder for the losing top laner (losing by a small margin) to even stay in lane and farm since a lot of top laners are split pushers.

This may be just me

It mainly is. You and a very small minority.

Penns6 votes

Sure? Cause I dont enjoy almost every soloq game being decided at minute 10 or earlier by the jungler that spam ganks starting level 2 XinZhao JarvanIV Nidalee Evelynn Sejuani Khazix Rammus Warwick either xd

Nayzumi2 votes

You're forgetting LeeSin Zac, the kings of early power ganks.

Jinx Hunter1 votes

Out of those, I have a problem with J4, Nid and her fog snipes, Sej and her days of CC engage, and Khaz the 1 shot wonder.

Eve while annoying doesn't piss me off till she is 6, wich is more then enough time for me to have dumpster the other laner at least 2 times by then. Xin, is predictable, wards make him pointless, Rammus is annoying but I don't find him a problem till team fights, and WW at least most of the time tells you he is coming.

SAlso you forgot Lee Win and Zac the I am going to engage way outside of ward range bandit

Barkley19 votes

It certainly isn't. There's dozens of posts like this every day on the boards, and I myself have had the same experience, along with many of my friends.

You do realize how minuscule a population the boards is, right? Add to that that the majority of people here are just here to complain, and you get a lopsided sample size.

And personal anecdotes like that really have no merit. I can just as easily say that myself and most of my friends are enjoying the game.

yeah, i have noticed that the aspect of self-improvement is the only compelling factor left in this game for me, but i can find other games that can do that and don´t make me want to kill myself.

i am now playing enter the gungeon again

great game.

Ben Sharpio4 votes

Playing the early game properly actually matters now. I guess people want to keep fucking around during the early stages and still have a chance... Which is wrong.

Now you actually get rewarded by playing properly. Nobody wants to be in a game for 35 minutes, only to lose to a champion that auto attacks you to death because of "Scaling" lol

The way the game is now is how it should be.

Ryrynounet6 votes

Indeed now you only need 20 min before getting rekt because of "adc """"""scaling""""""

RainbowIcee4 votes

SR may not be as fun to play anymore but ARAM is fun as shit. Had an almost 40 min ARAM mast last night.. it was tight !

Jinx Hunter4 votes

I concur. Also they need to knock it off with every new champ being overly complex for the sake of being complex.

Also, just fucking nerf marksmen item costs already. Its not fair they get to mega scale and have the cheapest.

d5playersaregood3 votes

If youre below diamond you can watch your team fuck up and easily win games. Comebacks aren't impossible at all. Maybe it's time for you to move onto a new game.

Banana 18 Bro2 votes

I completely refused to believe about snowballing, as it wasn't that obvious until the last 2-3 patches. I played a some ranked games and realized that snowballing is actually the worst thing in game right now.

Regardless of how much you win the game, if the enemy team splits you in between all lanes and refuse to fight but just snowball and split, you lose regardless.

Oxyrotten2 votes

I'm a top laner so I don't mind the split pushing strategy, but there is definately an issue with snowballing and games being pointless.

Maybe that is the issue, league used to be a competitive game, but now the matches hold no meaning.

I Agree so a month ago I asked one of my friends to install league so I can play with him (since I don't really enjoy playing solo) he just didn't want to cuz he said he cant cuz the average game length is around 30mins and he doesn't have the time to so I just started wondering that riot is actually trying to make the game faster with this snowballing meta just to attract more people (like my friend) that doesn't have the time for this kind of a game.

Danni Chimes1 votes

I've lost tons of games where my team had 56 kills and the enemy team had 27. People who see the score being 11-4 at 12 minutes and say the game is over are probably people who aren't used to having their backs against the wall and having to climb their way out of situations. Sure you wont win them all, but ive seen a number of bad decisions when already behind only propel the prevailing team even further ahead.

My friend and I want a college degree only server of league...sometimes you get the 7 and 8 year olds(not a stab at them, but it's true) who don't understand strategy or why we don't dive into a 3v1 when they are all on a killing spree and you're 2 levels behind. The majority of people in the game think they are always right and it's always someone elses fault as to why they are getting beat when 9 times out of 10 it was their chase through an unwarded river into the unwarded enemy jungle that caused them to get clusterfuqed and fall 3 levels behind.

but yea...you know...

LegitBusinessman1 votes

The crazy thing is that this isn't relegated to just 'low elo'. If you watch challenger tier streamers the snowball is equally as heavy and even in challengers games you are frequently seeing a game average of ~2 kills per minute which in season 6 people would have said 'That'd be a fantastic clusterf***' but is, instead, kind of the norm now.

DNFVixen1 votes

And it looks like riot still isn't planning on ficing this fucking pile of shit idea by just reverting it, better yet they should revert it back to season 5's rune and mastery system!!!!!!
