Watching worlds makes me feel bad for supports...
When the solo laners are level 18 and supports are level 12
I get that they get more xp than a duo lane, but that is just ridiculous

Literally every match of Worlds I've watched for supports is "Nami with a Locket vs. X with a Locket". I can't look at the stream without seeing Nami there with a Locket in her pocket.
Support meta for pro play is extremely fucked from what I'm witnessing.
Honestl, I just feel bad for the supports in LCS, in general. I don't really watch LCS games, but I hardly ever hear my friends, who do watch the games, say anything remotely amazing about the support players. It's always about the mid laners and the junglers (when they gank). Hell, not even the adc's are talked about much.
But, again, this is only from what I hear from my friends who watch the LCS games.
Supports should not care about their own level or gold, while it is important they be at a decent level (enough to have 1-2 abilities maxed), their primary concern should be the rest of their team. A Support doesn't reflect themselves, the state of their team does.
Suppkrts roam more at pro levels. An ADC alone with a lane freeze will quickly outlevel any roaming support. When I stick around my team in games, I'm usually 2-3 levels behind the rest of team (unless one is absurdly fed).
It took you watching worlds to realize the support role and their lack of xp is stupid? The fact that hardly anyone wants to play the role since forever didn't tip you off?
To make it worse, Nami and Alistar are going to get butchered after worlds. I guarantee that at the very least, Nami will get a longer cd ult or something stupid.
watching supports makes me feel bad for LoL :^)
such rigorous dictation on how to play an online game
as a support main, to be perfectly honest I hardly notice or care about the level difference. I compare my level to the enemy support only.
revert supports to 2012, their kit being balanced around not having scalings, not having items.
A simple fix would be to give a mastery/support item passive that gives bonus xp if around allies 2 or more levels higher than you. Even if it only kicked in at 3 a level difference, on a support item that wouldn't be bad. A good support is going to miss entire waves of xp while they roam to ward/counter ward because usually when it's safe to do this is when a wave is pushing in and the enemy laners aren't around and it shutting off while they are still behind isn't op at all.
Definitely agree with your sentiment. People complain about the JG and Top lane metas, and no one seems to care that apart from Nami it's been
and maybe
9/10 times in every pro game for the past 2 or maybe 3 (I don't know how long Braum has been out) years.
Doesn't make me feel sad. They're pro's at world's playing a style and level of game that I will never have to worry about doing myself.
I'll get to continue enjoying playing support at a level where I still get XP and items, while enjoy watching pros do their own thing.
Just adding a note for illustration purposes, in today's game -- SKT v IM , I noticed that the average of all the other players on IMT were about level 15 (avg = 14.75) and Road, their support, was at level 11. As for SKT's support? Well the average of all the other players was level 17 (avg = 16.75) -- poor Wolf as support was stuck at level 12. That's 4 and 5 levels away from the other players -- ever wonder why support players often feel useless, Rito devs?
Supports are the backbome of any team. You can't say supports are being under recognized or under leveled, have you not seen Matta recently?
I think support itemization is fine imo.
Anyone see what Mata did on Alistar though?
I think supports are still super relevant even when behind in levels. To be selffless and let the others soak the exp is a very good idea imo.
That's because supports in worlds aren't just sitting in lane like the supports in solo q. They actually move around the map and play the game properly, a level deficit isn't a big deal when you have been roaming and getting vision around the map
Yeah, the adc only does as good as the support does
in pro play its more apparent. usually. solo laners are 18. in solo queue. sups are 15-16.
its because they roam.
Well, supports shouldn't be strong solo if the game goes longer. There is a reason why they are so strong early.
Also there is no reason to complain, supports now are broken in comparison with s2/s3 supports
Do people not realize supports are a carry role?..
Yeah they're underleveled but they have such a huge fucking impact on winning
Because pros are convinced there is only one and absolutely one pure way to play Support and they just do that.
Glad that someone saw this as well. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
as a support main its not so bad when your team is winning. please note "NOT SO BAD"
its absolutely horrifying when you are behind though,
the lvl difference hurts. and tbh in order to cope with it i usually farm easy camps or take a wave when laning phase has ended. you have to.
btw it hurts the most on tank supports who usually dont have clear speeds, and thus end up behind by default of slower xp/gold gain.
If they were to buff xp or gold then there wouldn't be a reason for supports to exist. People would just go with a champ that scales with items and ability levels then. The support role was made because ADC's were item dependant, and needed some sort of utility at their side to ensure their survival, or else people would just run assassins bot lane to kill a marksman. Since the role requires a champ that can survive without gold or xp, the champ would have to have killer utility on their abilities at low levels. Since supports have arguably the strongest effects on their abilities (not damage wise), they are the strongest candidates to be in a lane with little gold and xp income.
