Garena's game incentives and why I think it would be good for other League of Legends servers

So I saw this video about Garena's LoL incentives from RedMercy and let me start by saying that it didn't start there. When I used to live and play in the Philippines we were on a Garena server and we enjoyed a ton of free incentives from IP-boosts, XP-boosts, and even Rental skins at some point (but the rental skins got phased out after Hextech came to the servers which is fair to be honest). We had this app where we can roll everyday for a freebie which helped us level up and/or gain IP faster. Me and my friends found it easier to grind for champs or runes with them so we played more in order to utilize them (and also to not waste them since most of them only last a day). Though I did like this system, I think the new one that Redmercy showed in the video where by leveling up you get "earn" these freebies is better because 1) It's not RNG based, which means that us players can really feel the work we put into them; and 2) It wouldn't completely make buying Riot's IP and XP boosts obsolete.

Now, why would these incentives be good for other servers? I think it's because League of Legend's competitive part isn't in grinding for runes, champions, or levels. It's in the rank system where players can win or lose points to climb up the ladder. But of course, there are minimum requirements in order to be able to play rank. You have to be level 30 and have a minimum number of champions, not to mention the runes that you'll need to match your playstyle and champion pool. Without boosts, the grind to even begin play rank is so long and tiring that it can even make you think twice about playing League just for that (which is what I see when I first switched to playing in EU West). So being able to earn freebies like these as shown in the Redmercy video and on the Garena page, I think it would help us players feel better in improving and trying harder in our games in order to also prepare us for rank and our inevitable climb.

Honestly those incentives are better AFTER level 30. New players are so caught up in just being new I think many will continue anyways. IT is after you have been 30 and just grinding day in and day out without any gain that you want something more to gain.

Well karma just struck me hard when I left The Philippines a year ago. Then again, I hope Riot will implement these kind of rewards to NA.
