Pyke change proposal that doesn't completely ruin solo pyke like the current proposed changes will.

The latest Pyke changes aim to make his Q single target, and remove E waveclear, he is given a slight buff to E move speed to compensate. I believe these changes kill the champion far too much. I suggest a different avenue. Make Pyke have a limited time to access his grey health, like Kench/Rengar do. Give Pyke a small amount of time (5-10 seconds after combat stops) where his grey health will decay. This forces him to have to back off quickly in order to get this oppressive healing pattern off. This would be great because it does not really harm support pyke that much, since he can back off and not worry about getting last hits. Whereas mid/toplane Pyke would have to weigh trade/csing when taking damage. If he goes to trade he then has to quickly get into fog of war to heal, losing out on the opportunity to farm as freely, creating a window that he then HAS to use his passive and enforcing his stalker playstyle.

I believe these changes kill the champion far too much.

They kill solo Pyke, support Pyke is largely unaffected safe for the tap-Q nerfs and the inability to hard shove waves with his ADC.

Make Pyke have a limited time to access his grey health, like Kench/Rengar do.

That hits both Pykes very hard because he'll have to constantly run out of range to regen. This means that duo Pyke will fall even further behind in EXP and his ADC will be more susceptible to engages or poke. Any competent team would capitalize on these windows and it'd be very hard to make Pyke a viable pick.

It's a step in the right direction but Riot doesn't want Pyke to be a solo laner so they wouldn't do it anyway.

If he goes to trade he then has to quickly get into fog of war to heal, losing out on the opportunity to farm as freely, creating a window that he then HAS to use his passive and enforcing his stalker playstyle.

Riot has made it clear that they don't want Pyke to be a solo laner in any capacity. They don't want it slightly weakened, they don't want it to be a niche pick, they want it removed.

Personal note, it goes against the design philosophy of the champion as a whole and it shouldn't be allowed. He's meant to be a high-risk high-reward champion and solo Pyke goes against that entirely. Rather than playing fast and calculated he spends the entire lane widdling his opponent down and cheesing his way through with Aftershock. I'm not a fan of that.

They're killing solo lane Pyke on purpose. That is their goal with these changes. Pyke's thing is that he's an assassin that is also a support, not an assassin that can also support if you feel like it.

I see both of these comments so far, I propose another change then, give Pyke a proximity buff (think old kalista w passive) where his abilities are stronger/have better range/something when he is near any ally (~1000 units or so) Weaken his current abilities, and make them a tad stronger when near allies (perhaps stacking per ally near like a school of fish theme) thinking 25% weaker solo 10% stronger than currently when with team.
