How do I get better at dodging skill shots
Okay so I'm a silver player who struggles dodging skill shots in the laning phase. What can I do to get better at dodging them

Hey buddy, I have actually tried to make a small "mini game" that's aimed for people who want to practice their dodging and reaction time as well as warm up before a match, I hope you don't mind me posting here, feel free to have a look and give feedback (preferably negative but constructive feedback) so I can keep developing it with League of Legends and other MOBAs in mind.

I know the web version has some issues but the downloadable versions work just fine. Thanks in advance and I hope you do get ti see some improvement
I know I am commenting to a 7 months old comment but just wanted to say this is exactly what I was looking! You are an awesome person to make such a thing and share it. :) If you, still, want some ideas to improve it, I can say color changes could be good after some time for example. And it would be better if it could work with right click.
Practice mainly. I'd advise in normals.
What do i practice though
Stay around the edge of the casting range. Step in for a bit, bait it out, step to the side to dodge, then go in. Learn the speed of it so you know how fast you have to react and get used to it. Almost ALL skillshots do not go through minions or other champions, so use your minions as a shield. Only certain ones (like Kled's Q or Ahri's Q, etc) go through minions. Try to learn the animation frames of how the skillshot looks. If you can step to the side the instant you see the beginning of the animation cast, you will have a better chance to dodge. Dodge to the side, not backwards.
So my biggest problem would be lux and Morgana binds do the same thing?
Lux's Q lasts shorter and passes through the first target and CCs the first two targets it hits, be careful of that.
Morgana's Q lasts longer but only CCs the first target it hits.
Morg q is also much wider of a skillshot and is clunky to fit around minions whereas lux is skinnier and a bit faster moving.
Play ARAM. Worked for me
Predict and anticipate. Know the champs. KNOW ranges. I know all champs ranges without indicators on. this helps BIG time.
If i'm playing a champion with a mobility spell like
, i set it to quick cast and keep a finger on it. So the moment i see something worth dodging i press it. It really helps against champions like
and
when you don't have godlike reflexes.
get gud
-A bronze player
Don't walk in a straight line. There are plenty of videos on YT on how to properly walk when in lane.
You can dodge in two ways.
Predictive or Reactive.
Reactive - I see where its going and I quickly dodge.
Predictive - 'I expect that they are going to throw it here, so I will move as soon as I see the animation'
Reactive is obviously better, but my reactions are pretty poor, I dodge most of it because I expect where the enemy is going to aim it and when.
Basically what everyone said above. The main concept is learning every champion's moveset and use flash instead of hesitating if you think you cant dodge something. There are too many players that think they are going to dodge skill shots and end up getting killed before using flash and they waste the flash after the enemy lands the skill shot.
Depends on who/what you play and what you're getting hit by most Tell me specifics and I can tell you strats Qualifications: never get hit by more than 1 tornado per laning phase
ARAM
Pro tip to dodging, note this is coming from a high diamond thresh 1 trick, any spell with a windup, don't dodge, or just stop moving the second it is thrown. Any spell with a long cast time people will expect you to dodge, so just don't. As for other spells, that just gets better with game knowledge and positioning:
Knowing where to stand in lane is important, avoiding walls or anything that limit the directions in which you can dodge and so forth.
Whether or not to stand near minions to help dodge when playing certain champs, zed lux morg to name a few, or if this doesn't help at all or can basically get you killed, ryze bard (basically anybody who doesn't have minion fall-off damage or relies on minions to land skills through them, or just doesn't matter because of point and click. 99% of the time standing in minion wave helps, but sometimes due to creep block or select champions this just gets you killed)
Learn champion tendencies so you know WHEN a certain champ is going to look to land a skillshot. Most of dodging is focusing on the enemy and seeing how they play, and reacting to when they move up, when they are going away from your minions to get space for their skillshot and so on.
After that, the majority of dodging comes from being unpredictable, moving a lot, not trying to move side to side when they are walking up to you(basically don't dodge when they're walking dodge when the skill comes out so they can't get closer to you, giving you less time to react. Just walk away when they're walking towards you) And looking at the champions face when they're casting skillshots. Most champions, their models will turn the direction they are throwing the spell during the cast time, which gives you an extra like quarter second to know where it is going and dodge.
Other tips are switch it up. If you dodge down/to the right most of the time, do the opposite next time so they don't get a read on you. It's basically one big mindgame. Hope this helped.
People only start predicatively aiming in high ELO xd
In my experience, predictive aiming/dodging starts at like 60% in silver (ish) peaks at around high plat/low diamond where it's around 90%-100% of the time. And it's a drop off to around 60/70% of the time when you get to high diamond/master. People still predicatively aim in low elo, especially on champs with long windups. I've done bronze-diamond runs many times and this is what I personally have found. Although I'm probably not in the pits of low elo (I'm usually around 70-80% winrate) like some people are, so maybe it changes for there. Really not sure. Would love to get other people's opinions on this though.
lol ok. Seems like no one here is giving good advice. The trick to dodging skill shots is to predict or bait them..
for example
is chasing you. You know the only way he can get you is he he lands his hook. You know this so you fake left then go right. He throws his hook left thinking ur going left. Bam skill shot avoided.
U can also stand in front of them to bait out the hook then dash or move somewhere they wont expect.
Its vey hard to dodge skill shots in that tiny window of seeing the animation. Best way to dodge is to just predict where they will throw it or bait the hooks out or cc w.e
Don't dodge, keep walking. Best dodge to thresh is no dodge lol. https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=moooose2
In my opinion.
Play skillshot characters, you will learn how they do position in order to hit you and you can side-step more efficently once you get a grip of that.
