Incentives for maining a champion?
Hey fellow players, I am a veteran low tier player (somehow, I am gold 4 at the moment). And I have tried to main a champion before. And I can keep it up for a bit as I develop my skills. But it gets really boring playing the same champion and facing opponents that are not challenging. So then I change it up to keep the game enjoyable. As a result, I stop maining a champion and because of that, when I actually face a tough opponent, I have nothing in my arsenal because I have no mains. I feel that it just does not feel rewarding enough to main a champion in lower tiers. At some point, I just plateau. I believe this is not only a problem for me but I bet other low tier players have had similar experiences. So I think a simple solution would be to add little milestones as we keep playing games with the same champions in a certain role (top, mid, adc, support, jungle, or other). Here is just a suggestion: 0-10% of past 50 games using (champion name) while playing (role) -> Level 1: Beginner -> No insignia and no reward 11-25% of past 50 games using (champion name) while playing (role) -> Level 2: Intermediate -> Ruby insignia and no reward 26-50% of past 50 games using (champion name) while playing (role) -> Level 3: Main -> Sapphire insignia and summoner icon (maybe?) 51-85% of past 50 games using (champion name) while playing (role) -> Level 4: Advanced -> Emerald insignia and enhanced splash art 86-100% of past 50 games using (champion name) while playing (role) -> Level 5: One-trick Pony -> Amethyst insignia and special in-game animations (like high fives?!) Percentages can be modified for sure! I think what would be a sweet bonus of this is being able to see the insignia's during loading screen. That way, I could know in advance what kind of Jarvan or Irelia player I am up against. This way, I could be more prepared to fight my opponent even before the fight begins (which is how preparation should work). Remember, this isn't a novel idea. Other games have ways of keeping track of players' mastery milestones. What do you guys think?
That's all friends, Torrence
