Is The League Meta Mentality Blinding Everyone?

Can someone explain to me why Ezreal building Runeglaive with smite is a bad thing? The Smite Ezreal sacrifices a summoner spell that can be much more effective in lane just to gain access to jungler items. To me the whole summoner 11 laner seems like more of a trade off, and the ability to be a summoner 11 lane adds more versatility to the game. People want more diversity and different builds/options, but yet they cry when something like that happens. I understand it adds more utility/jungle control, but how will summoner 11 Ezreal do against a summoner 7 summoner 3 summoner 14 Ezreal (or some other mid)? Some of the things that that make Dota 2 so successful is the lack of being restricted to a Meta. For ranked players this can add more counter play, strategies, etc. I'm just someone who has no issue with the current builds going on, but I'm curious to why other see it as an issue, please enlighten.{{summoner:2}}

Lcs proved runeglaive ez can be beat by a "team"

Oh fuck's sake, "muh Dota 2 don't have no fixed meta" shows its idiot face again.

I watch pro matches. Dota 2 definitely has a meta, and said metas tend to last for a lot longer than League ones. Remember Juggernaut? Undying vs. Gyrocopter? Storm Spirit/Shadow Fiend mid?

Or are you just talking out of your ass, like everybody else who tries to bring that point up?

Also because of how they didn't mean for luden's echo to be proced by runeglaive and that people are abusing that bug even at the professional level.

It's more the fact that runeglaive is extremely annoying on Ez, since he can proc on-hits from much farther away than any other champion in the game.

actually, league isnt restricted by a meta too. you can literally play whatever you want and find a way to make it work.

its actually really good for your winrate that all soloQ noobs copy lcs, because if you find a way to counter a specific thing, you can do that almost every game. remember 3 years ago, people played basically everything anywhere. it was so hard to practice a matchup because you had a different one every game.

i think in lower elo, its still more diverse while in high elo they literally all copy lcs and suck with it.

The only issue with Runeglaive Ez is that it is procing Ludens.

Outside of that he isnt so bad, AP Ezreal always had huge damage.

While I condone not listening to the meta at 100%, please don't defend Runeglaive Ez, that thing gives him so much free power.

The only real issue I have with it is that he is able to sacrifice a summoner spell for it and do completely fine. Smite is meant to be a jungler item. It was the exact same thing with Elder Lizard. They made it so good that laners started getting it.

Junglers items should be good in the jungle and that's how it should be.

The main problem is that runeglaive makes Ezreals q proc ludens which was not intended. Ezreals Q did not proc ludens alone for a good reason.

People also talk about how it gives ezreal waveclear, which it does, but taking ludens out of his q will make his waveclear okay at best even with runeglaive as it does not scale all that high.

I personally am a fan of smite laners as it does give the game more diversity.
