Any news for my favorite clown(Shaco)?

Shaco needs an update/rework on his gameplay badly, and I hope it's not too far off the rework calendar. I love the idea behind the champion, an insane clown that love mind tricks to pull off assassinations, but I believe he has huge gameplay issues.

Sure he's good at ganking and split pushing but that's about it.

He has literally no team fight presence, if your team can't hold a turret 4 v 5 long enough mid-late game you are pretty much useless. Because: He has no way of getting out after he goes in. He's too Squishy for a melee, and his only way of negating damage is a split second invulnerability when he uses his ultimate. Aside from tanking Jungle Monsters/Turrets and that split second invulnerability his ultimate has nothing else to offer. He cannot do his job(Assassination) in team fight as well as other assassins. (Lack of CC and burst unless you are AP) If you are AP you exchange your split pushing for a small presence in team fight, because you will have a decent amount of success with assassination in clash now, and your ultimate does quite a bit of AoE damage, but you're still dead once you go in.

-If your team is behind and Shaco cannot split push fast enough, it's pretty much 4 v 5. -He has nothing to offer when it comes to team fighting.

My change suggestions on some of his abilities.

Since he has no way of getting out once he goes in, and he has no problem early game why not make him a bit tough after level 6?

Hallucinate Suggestions: -Shaco and his Illusion share % amount of damage and reduce it by certain % maybe? But of course Shaco and Shaco should stay close together. or -He can swap position with his clone but has a range limit - unable to cast the swap if beyond range. or -He can detonate the clone anytime, if he's alive during the detonation heal Shaco for % HP of the clone, if he's dead it just detonates. or -Remove all debuffs on ultimate, make the invulnerability a bit longer before splitting.

Jack In The Box

  1. Make the health like those of wards, so the enemy team actually has to put effort when destroying it, he can only put down one at a time anyways.

Deceive

  1. Make his illusion deceive too, and relocate to where he is to confuse the enemy more. or
  2. Reduce cooldown on assist and reset on kill?

If a rework is on the way just forget everything I said and give me an ETA nao. :)

After having mained him for a good while, I think I can safely say that a good number of these problems can be negated or mitigated by build.

That 1 second duration while cloning actually does a lot. You can dodge any damaging ability as long as you time it right (Almost Fiora parry level)

As for squishiness problems, Bruiser Shaco is a thing that works well and offers survivability while keeping a healthy and strong amount of damage. (Check out Shaclone)

Boxes should just have their HP changed to be like Zyra plants or Teemo shrooms. Would improve effectiveness while not really changing DPS or utility.

Overall, what Shaco needs most is a reworked Shiv and Zyra plant /Teemo shroom HP mechanic for his boxes. Not a reworked clone, stealthaport, or anything else.

Shiv because it's got some abnormal interactions that aren't present with identically similar point and click damage. A change to its abnormal interaction would fix the shiv entirely, fixing the problem of it not doing damage when its supposed to.

Boxes need the change so that mid-late they can't get one shotted by AoEs or autos, which are very present throughout the game.

I totally agree with most of your points but then again, Shaco is meant to be an assassin not a bruiser, now I have no problem with him being a bruiser but if he's not good at his primary role then something is definitely wrong, not to mention his lore/image screams assassin.

He stays as an assassin while building bruiserly, since damage + resistance items synergize nicely on him (Maw is ideal). And he does do a lot of damage and is still a great assassin. He's just not the 1 shot suicide bomber like Talon or pure damage Shaco, but more of "Dive in grab kill get out with low HP"

shaco is an uncatchable split pusher late game. If you run summoner 6 and item 3713 , item 3715 , or item 3706 with item 3142 you can escape easily.

additionally, you can preemptively set your boxes to fear enemies and escape even more easily

basically the enemy is forced to try to catch you because you can go overboard and carry momentum by split pushing so its a win-win for shaco

another method is having the clone chase the person chasing you to proc shiv passive slow so they never catch you.

Yeah, I will not disagree that his split pushing is strong, that's like the only thing he does and the only thing you should do game mid-late because he has no team fight presence.

As long as he got this cancer early game he should not recive any buffs, shaco is not far behind lee sin in terms of anyoance level.

Every champion has draw backs. I mained Shaco for awhile this season and you gotta understand what to build in what situation. Shaco's role in the game is to get ahead very early, as he is a strong early/mid game champion, but falls off late game. I stopped playing Shaco when Cinderhulk became popular because he was not viable, and regardless of how much damage I got or what I built, a 1.8k health Shaco versus a 5.5k health Sion is never a good scenario. Ultimately, you have to understand that picking Shaco every game is not viable or useful to the team unless you can assassinate 1-2 targets before dying or getting out.

The thing to understand about Shaco is that he is one of the few champions who has his weaknesses and strengths balanced perfectly. If you're picking Shaco, your goal is to get ahead early then mid-late split push. If your team isn't drafted to handle that, then you shouldn't pick Shaco.

With a composition that excells in 4v5s having a Shaco on your team is amazing. Orianna and Tristana can wave clear all day and stall fights allowing the crazy splits.

Just get a good comp and Shacos kit is A-OK

The funny thing is that shacos lategame is pretty good even if people say otherwise, he oneshots squishies with 1 q +aa+. He is shit midgame though. And his teamfighting is "decent" if you are good with him, oneshotting a jinx in every teamfight without counterplay is pretty viable and worth it imo. Shaco isnt half as bad as people make him out to be, he just is pretty hard to learn / play effectivly consistantly.
