Questions about Fiora

Hi there guys. I'm an avid jungler/mid player in Silver 4 right now, really having quite the tilt lately with losses. I mainly play yi which seems to work well for farming, ganking early but I can never seem to pull off the win in the latter of the game even with good dragon calls good team fights etc.

So the other day, out of spur of the moment I decided to start playing Fiora(Any lane) Mainly jungle, did try top last night aswell. One thing I noticed is she is great at 1v1's early in the game, doesn't clear jungle camps insanely well, and is squishy?(Maokai dumpstered me in 1v1 top lane) I am using standing AD runes with MR/Scaling Pdef per level with Thunderlords setup(0/12/18). Usually aiming for Devourer in jungle and standard items like botrk, TF, etc in top. What am I doing wrong? As I do with yi I would like to play her quite alot till I get good, wanting to make this a bit more enjoyable :)

Thank you all for reading, sorry for the long post.

tl;dr Started playing Fiora, am a decent player but can't seem to ever do well with her using standard runes/items/masteries. Any tips?

Fiora is an awful jungler. The most relevant part of her early game sustain requires enemy champions to be near. Not to mention, her only CC can be difficult to land and, unless you riposte some hard CC, all it gives is a slow.

If you want to get good at Fiora, the first step is accepting that she will never be a jungler. Pick her top lane when you have a jungler who brings Cc to the table.

As far as her in top lane, yes early she is squishy. She makes up for that by being hyper mobile. The general play you are looking is Q towards the enemy, hit vital, run away. If you need to riposte or activate your E, do it but otherwise if you stay in a trade longer than the short buff from hitting a vital, you will lose the trades. She is all about quick little trades many times in lane.

I have never played Fiora jungle. But I play her top all the time so I'll just throw in my two cents. If you really want to play her jungle I would suggest taking warrior with challenging smite instead of devourer. Fiora doesn't utilize devourer as well as someone like Yi ( Q cd reset) so warrior would probably be best. Then from there I would just build standard Fiora, starting Hydra, followed by merc/ninja tabi then black cleaver. Whatever you build after that is up to you. Masteries I like to run 12/18/0 taking thunderlords and runes are pretty much what you run with the exception of attack speed quints. When attacking with Fiora it is important to constantly attack the enemy vitals. Don't know if this helps. Like I said I'm a top lane Fiora

Fiora works best in the top lane, imo. I doubt she'd do well in the jungle. Her kit just isn't mean to jungle effectively... You can try to jungle her, but don't expect good results. Take her to top lane, or even mid.

As Fiora, you really need to play smart. Even when you're fed, if you don't play smart you'll get shut down rather easily. In lane, poke easy vitals (don't go for the vitals behind champions) and then back off before they retaliate or minions gang up on you. Early game, you can win most trades, especially against champions with predictable burst or CC.

To be a good Fiora, you really need to Riposte effectively, it makes all the difference. It's one thing being able to dance around your enemy to hit all 4 sides, but if you get locked down with CC they're quickly going to take you down. Make sure you use Riposte to block that Annie ultimate, or the Morgana binding, otherwise you'll get wrecked.

My Fiora build involves rushing a Ravenous Hydra, then getting Swiftness Boots (easier to walk around your opponent) and a Black Cleaver. After that, get situational defence items and then a situational offensive item until you're full build.

So, to summarize; Don't go in to trade unless you can easily proc Vitals. Vitals are key, if you're awful at hitting them you won't be a worthy opponent. Riposte is very important to her survival, and wasting it will likely result in your death. Pay attention to your enemy's playstyle to use if effectively, and adapt when they do. Eventually they'll realize you're riposting all their burst, so they will try to fake you out or spread their damage evenly. Also, make use of the multiple auto-attack resets in her kit. Typical trade should be: Dive in with Q, hit their vital, auto-attack once, then immediately use E for the AA reset and attack twice more. Q once again to hit a different vital, then back off. Riposte if needed.
