Brand Thoughts

First off, I never see him in solo queue. Even in normals, maybe once out of every 20 games i see him played. I was dicussing this with a friend of mine, and we came to the conclusion that it's because he's not too easy to play, he has to stand still to cast, his q is microscopic, he doesn't deal as much damage as other mid lane mages, etc.

So my question is: should Brand receive some kind of rework or buff or adjustment to bring him back into the game? Because he's a really interesting and fun champion in my opinion but no one plays him

Thoughts?

Brand's problem isn't in his kit. Its in the Meta.

Look at the current strong midlaners. Most are either single target removal mages, zone control mages, or AD Nazi invaders (fuck YOU JAYCEEEE). Brand is an AOE burst mage who wants to kill 2-4 people, fuck over the tank, and do so at the cost of mobility. He's good at his job.

Brand actually has the second highest burst rotation, beat only by Malzahar (who can't do it in the AOE Brand is able too). Brand also does DOT% HP damage, which is nice. His problem is that he wants to chain his abilities, which takes him 1-2 seconds to pull off perfectly at medium range. That's not meta at all.

Basically wait until APE burst is back in the meta and watch the QQ happen.

From the perspective of someone who doesn't play Brand, I feel that, in his current state, he doesn't really offer anything to the team that another champ could do better. While his stun is really strong, it's too conditional to really consider him on a team comp considering a lot of other champions give much more reliable CC than him, the most prominent being Veigar's Event Horizon, which provides a stun that is both more reliable and eventually is longer than Brand's stun. And the sad thing is that Brand's stun is the only thing that gives him any sort of niche.

In addition, the RNG of his ultimate makes him too unreliable to use, especially considering its effect on an ablaze target should really be a base effect on the ability itself. It's an embarrassment of an ultimate, especially considering other mages have ultimates that will either straight up kill a target (Syndra, Veigar), or have massive AoE ultimates that can completely turn the tide of a teamfight through tons of damage, usually with crowd control as well (ie. over 50% of all mage ults). That's not to say that Brand's ultimate is weak, but it does have stiff competition from nearly every mage ult in the game, and its RNG makes it all that much worse.

That's not to say Brand is particularly bad. That's just to say that there's no real reason to play him over any other mage in the game.

Omg please no rework on Brand. My favorite champ, his kit is unique and feels really good... Being able to transfert E from a creep to a member of the other team then ulting him while he flash back into his backline: Feels so gooood.

Maybe he could use a bit more damage for the difficulty of his skillshots or maybe a slow on E... But he's still balanced now.

Meh, I knew he was behind Malz, but forgot about LB and Syndra.

His is still in an AOE, so yeah.

(Also, can't Cass effectively outdamage them in the same time window due to her highly ignored E change that makes it reset from the beginning of the ability, making it possible to deal a whopping 360% AP with just E, or 495% AP in about the time it takes Brand, Malz, or Syndra to burst someone down. This is of course compensated by her shit earlygame. Still though, I'm sure her DPS outbursts most mages wich is scarily unfair. BTW, I have a rework concept I've been working on.)
