Understanding mmr help

I Was plat 5 last season i got unlucky with placements with afks trolls etc got g5 and have climbed my way to g3 but i keep matching vs players who are currently plat 5-3 despite my mmr being that of gold 3, i have not being getting a decent amount of lp per win despite that fact that i constantly win out vs plat players with gold 3 mmr can someone explain http://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=Ares%20God%20Of%20War![Viktor](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.20.1/img/champion/Viktor.png)

It's important to remember op.gg and similar don't know your mmr, and merely estimate it. (They're also somewhat notorious for being particularly wrong around start of season.)

If you're matching with/against low plat players, that implies that you have a low plat mmr (or the plats have mmrs in the high gold area).

What sort of LP gains/losses are you seeing? I would expect you to be getting at least 20 LP for wins.

i get 22 but i looked at the players that i play against in the p4 or 5 range and say that they have their elos mmr so should i not be getting up to 30 for beating 3 or 4 divs up from me.

Again, op.gg and similar don't know mmrs. If you're in the same game, you have similar mmr, so either they have relatively poor mmr for their rank, or you have good mmr for your rank, or some combination of the two, and the way to figure it out is based on your actual LP gains/losses.

Getting 22 probably implies a bit of a mix of the two, with you being a little above your rank in terms of mmr, but not necessarily 3/4 divisions above.
