Need some context on Kog's revert and path going forward

Back with the marksman update you did something different with kog. While interesting, it leads me to assume you felt he could use the change. That is to say, maybe you believed he needed it to add some flair or power to the otherwise low picked adc champ.

As of the next patch, and with the PBE updates kog is going back to "exactly" the same way he was before. (only except his ult is still worthless outside of executing people who ran from you, which, fine. not even worried)

But what this DOES leave me is a feeling of "what's the point?" Is this revert going to be used as a foundation to give him different changes in the future? Is he perhaps going to get a passive that doesn't punish him for not dying? (In the sense that, if he has a perfect game of no deaths, he effectively has no passive outside of Q, which was really only but in place to counterbalance the attack speed per level nerfs)

All of his abilities "still" scale with exclusively ability power, (exception being ult, again, largely pointless unless character is almost dead and even then base alone is strong enough) And it still puts him in an odd situation. Wit's end still seems like a good idea since his W is magic damage, Rageblade seems less strong now since his AS potential is weakened, but still might be an idea.

Honestly it seems that an critical based build using AS and I.E. Is really still not that effective of an idea considering that he has no AD buff outside of the range increase from W, and the AS from Q which doesn't show itself mostly until late/mid game.

Furthermore, none of this addresses his pathetically weak early game in any fashion. Where a lot of ADC get power spikes from their skills relatively early, his base 500 attack range, and his W only scaling it's range with level makes it difficult for him to farm and not be excessively bullied in lane from poke supports or any ADC with an attack range of 550+

Currently, his weakest time is within his early, and I get that. But it is likely perhaps "the" weakest early game, with the promise his on hit build would catch him up once the match went late game. Finishing his core made him feel strong despite his weak early.

I fear now though, more lanes are going to force him to farm with his W so he can remain a safe distance away, and it just over all feels bad.

Without the ability to break the 2.5 AS cap his w is now extremely weak even though that is where most of his power was before. He is going to need a lot of work to be usable again.

at least they need to reduce his mana cost. for pretty much every single ability especially his ult

pretty sure if they just change his useless passive, he will be fine. he can really use some sort of scaling passive...(if they did intend to make him THE late game adc) or else he really gets over-shadowed by vayne and twitch.

His passive is so if you do get dived on by an assassin or the like, you can finish someone off. He's so immobile that if someone dives your probably already near them.

Its also because he doesn't need any more damage or utility that is on demand.

I disagree with part of this. the 6% magic damage won't make up for the fact he has literally no other steroid to his autos. At least vayne's ult gives her a crap ton of free AD. Even twitch's gives him a little bit. Besides, this meta is seeing a lot of adc whose skills scale hard with AD, and are stacking flat armor pen and just tearing through people (jhin, miss fortune, lucian) and the like. Critical strike has fallen very far out of favor.

Currently his W takes up a large part of his kit. Thats a pretty great steroid.

You seem to have missed my point though.
