Bronze, Silver & Gold all in same ranked game? Why???

As I've started to climb a bit higher in rank I'm noticing a bigger and bigger gap in between the skill levels of the players in each matchmade ranked game.

Sometimes it works out in my teams favor, sometimes it works out in the opposing teams favor.

The worst example I have is in a Promotional game I was in. Regardless of which side I was on, there was a Gold IV Yasuo vs a Bronze I Syndra in the midlane. I'll let you all take a second to guess who went 17/0 and hard carried the game down the midlane… (Hint: Champs name starts with "Y"). To be honest, this Bronze I Syndra could have had a lucky streak, been matched with good team mates and got boosted temporarily to Bronze I while her true elo is still somewhere around Bronze II or III..... and this is getting tossed into a promo game with MULTIPLE Gold players?

The game itself and in my opinion fairness for both teams was over @ 0:01, as soon as Riot decided that a Bronze should be matched against a Gold, midlane in a ranked promotional game. Even if Yasuo was on my team, it never feels good to absolutely smash your opponent, then check after the game to see they are 2 Full Divisions below you..... What did I really win or accomplish? and how frustrating for the Syndra….

I am noticing this more and more..... It's not even just a Silver II vs a Gold IV.. It's literally 1 Bronze player thrown in with high elo Silvers and lower elo Golds... They just get smashed and the system should NOT ever even have those two players in the same game..... I'd rather wait another 2 - 5 minutes for another high elo Silver I in his own promos or Gold player to show up vs that midlane Gold IV Yasuo.....

Just me??????

Isn't it about the same anyway? Bronze 1 VS Gold 4 would be the equivalent of old Silver V - Silver 1.

bronze-silver-gold = same thing

Has always been the case in Silver Elo since early seasons. The issue is the system places new players who just got to ranked into silver MMR.

Posted this so many times but the fact that you can start the season in bronze, then after a few dozen games climb into silver only to then play with new players makes no sense at all.

dont look at their rank, it's a mostly arbitrary border. it means nothing until you've played a ton of games

if that bronze 1 dude was in a game with golds then he was on a winstreak and he probrably will be earning 33+ lp and catching up but i do find it funny that he loses once and the first thing you thought was that he must be lucky and got boosted.

i tried finding the game in your op.gg, but it isn't there. very annoying.

Supposedly it's a ranked match, but it looks like a norm to me. It's a frustrating joke, probably made to addict and make you play more. People tell me "Oh if you're good enough you'll climb" but I have my doubts.

Are we talking about flex or regular Solo Q here?

Arammus12/4/2019, 11:31:06 PM1 votes

cause riot thinks its fun to match you with ppl, that you couldnt duoq with cause too much rank difference.

the REAL problem is how stupid riots system is it kinda goes like this (btw taking the example a bit far to make it more clear)

1 master player + 4 bronze players = an average elo of high silver/low gold. so the enemy team = 3 silver 1-2 and 2 gold 4 players vs said master + 4 bronzes. cause average mmr

Its MMR. OP, if you haven't had this happen before. Wait until you hit promos for major divisions and get all the rookie players trying out ranked thrown straight in! That's more infuriating than anything else because they are just starting out and Riot's trying to figure out their MMR in your promo. games. Hah!

Silver is weird because they are able to play with both gold and bronze. I don't think other ranks allow for this, but silver does. Like, gold can find plat but with no silvers.

It is like this:

Silver? Bronze and gold can be matched. Gold? Find plats and golds with no silvers.

If you find someone of higher rank gold+, then you can't face people below you rank tier. Silver is the exception.

Yasuo vs a Bronze I Syndra

I'll let you all take a second to guess who went 17/0

Syndra but you made the fatal mistake of letting Yasuo hit his 0/10 powerspike

I went over your history and cant find your Yasuo Syndra game your talking about.

Generally what you want to check for is, High uncertainty then Duo.

High uncertainty is accounts with low # of games. Ranks on accounts like that are frequently inaccurate. Duo is duoing. Its a pretty wide range. For example, Silver Tier: Can only queue with Iron, Bronze, Silver, and Gold Tier players.

Those two things tend to generate the majority of mismatched ranks. Link me the game if you want me to check it.

and this is getting tossed into a promo game with MULTIPLE Gold players

So FYI Riot will always do this kind of thing in a Promo game. They stack your side with lower then your MMR players and stack the enemies team with higher then your MMR players.

The Skill difference in Promo games between the teams is almost double from a normal game and always against you.

when doing the promo matches to assign you a tier.. it puts you against all players... former rankings are not considered that i can see
