STOP allowing people to first time champions in ranked

Now, before I begin, this is NOT me blaming my teammates for all of my losses.

So, 2 days ago, I enter a game, my mid laner picks Talon. I check his OP.GG and he had never played Talon in his life. I added him after the game and politely (not memeing) asked him why he decided to first time Talon into ranked, a queue that people like myself take seriously. A supposedly competitive mode where everyone tries their best. His response: I felt like it.

So, 2 days later I join a game and OP.GG my teammates as usual. My top laner, a Nasus and Malphite main (with pretty good winrates to be honest with you) locks in Lissandra against the enemy Garen top. He had 0 Lissandra games in his last 2 ranked seasons. None. 0.

Why is this allowed? Why? Why would I have to lose LP because someone else decided to first time in ranked?

This goes for new champions/reworked champs too. Either have a mastery rating (like level 2/ 5k points or whatever) or make it so you can't first time champions into ranked. It is ridiculous.

And before you say "what about new accounts/smurfs/whatever". Not enough of a reason, since those guys unlock their mains first ANYWAY, probably played them in normal queues.

Doing my best to get to Gold in Flex. "Never played Kayne before." "Then why did you pick him?" "It's just flex lol"

"First time Eve since rework." Same as above. Both of them fed...

Must say I agree. People ruin other's games by taking ranked less seriously and gambling their teammates LP on a pick they don't know how to play.

There is something seriously wrong if fucking Blizzard Games did it properly before Riot. Blizzard has the shittiest balance policies yet they came up with a better ranked system.

And what about all the times where a champion's the best pick? When that champion's the only thing they have left for a role?

That's what happens when you have to play with hardstuck players, they don't care if they win or lose anymore since they know they aren't going to be climbing at all.

Care to explain how people are supposed to pick champions they've never played to trade it to a teammate then?

I was always fond of the idea to require a decent mastery score with the champion before being able to pick it in ranked... but then, the requirements to enter ranked would be really steep as you'd require 16 champs that you are decent with. (The same number of champions possessed to go into rankeds in the first place)

I personnaly could do it easily as i have over 20 mastery 5+ champions, but otp and less experimented players would suffer from it.

It's really hard to have a balanced system despite how much i'd like experienced players.

They're self-entitled millenials.

After playing HotS a bunch again, I have to agree with this. In that game, you must have at least level 5 mastery (somewhere around 10 games at 50% win rate) to bring a champ into a ranked match. It's not much, so it doesn't feel like too much of a barrier, but in that game, 10 games is enough to have some clue what you're doing with them.
