Lets talk Yorick
Yorick is a very fun champion to play, and really annoying to play against. He's one of those who fall off heavily in lategame but is so strong early game that he kind of makes up for it. Kind of.
We all know Yorick needs a rework, and Riot has been planning this for the majority of three years. It's time the community came out and spoke about what can be done about him.
The problem starts when you look at just how hard he is to balance in his current state. His ultimate can be the worst and the best spell in the game at the same time. His passive allows him to say "I'm better than you as long as I have my ghosts up", and he can spam his ghosts easily. His slowing and healing combo is possibly the most annoying part about him, because it cannot be countered, much like old Ryze. If you walk close enough, you're gonna eat them. Although his W is not a targeted ability, it hardly is a skillshot, seeing how it is instant and has such a high radius.
The most important factor they should focus on in his rework is making him balancable. Basically this means that although his numbers might not be 100% after the rework, they have the possibility to tune him up and down without ruining his kit.
Obviously the second factor is keeping with his theme. He obviously can't go from ghost-spamming ghoul-man to pony-riding mexican alien. Keeping his ghosts is a must, but they must be made less toxic, less instant and less spammable I guess. And then tune up their power a little.
The last factor I want to talk about is giving him weaknesses and strengths in interchangeable harmony. He needs moments when he can get trainwrecked, and moments where he can roflstomp the enemy team.
I'll give some examples of what I think could be done with his kit, but I'm really more interested in what you guys think:
Passive: Unrest - When any of Yorick's allies die when Yorick is close, they spawn a gravestone for 20 seconds that spawn ghosts every time someone uses an ability (no cooldown). The ghosts will last for 5 seconds, and will chase enemy champions in the area. Has a 20 second cooldown.
Q: Shovelling - Yorick hauls anyone in a straight line away from himself with his shovel, knocking them up and pushing them back a small distance. They also take damage upon landing.
W: Graveyard - Passive: Everytime a ghost hits an enemy champion, Yorick gains 5/6/7/8/10 health and 1/2/3/4/5 movement speed. Active: Spawns a gravestone. The gravestone spawns a ghost everytime someone uses an ability (5 second cooldown). The gravestone can take 3 hits before going down, and Yorick can have a maximum of 3 gravestones.
E: Spectre's call - Yorick howls and spawns a ghost from every gravestone, and gains a massive movement speed bonus for a short while that falls off during the duration.
R: Revenant - Yorick spawns a Revenant from the closest gravestone, that will chase enemy champions and will blow up for tons of area of effect damage. The revenant is much faster than the other ghosts, and cannot be killed.
The most important thing to know about this kit, is that the passive's gravestones and W gravestones are not the same. The passive's only lasts for 20 seconds, and the ghosts only last for 5 seconds, but there is no cooldown between spawning. The W spawns ghosts at a maximum rate of 1 per 5 seconds, but the ghosts last until they die and do not decay. However, none of them can go more than 1200 units away from their gravestone.
The very obvious combo of this kit is to spawn 3 gravestones, use your E to get the massive movement speed, run past someone and shovel them back into your ghosts, and maybe even spawn a revenant. You may have noticed that with this new kit, Yorick does not have any slows. That is because his Q is more than enough CC to keep him viable as a utility-based champion by peeling or even catching enemy champions out.
He can also jungle with this new kit, or even support. His overpowered and unhealthy ultimate is gone, replaced by a spell that required good timing since it just chases the closest champion. His ghosts are no longer different types, and will all do the same thing.
His gravestone kit is a very unique ability also, and will probably have some very intersting synergy with ZZ'rot portal. However, it will require champions to be close to work, otherwise it will just be a dormant spooky graveyard.
The idea behind this kit suggestion is to create sort of a "do not disturb the dead" kind of feeling. Whenever a champion uses an ability, enraged ghosts will spawn from their graves and chase the troublemaker (however, Yorick will protect his allies from the same fate).
Now, it's time to hear your suggestions or thoughts. What can be done about Yorick, and when will we see what he becomes?
