Well, his options were to dodge and lose points guaranteed, or to actually play and potentially win.

Either way, itss not a good habit to get into.

Well if you're looking to rank up (which is a joke with riot forcing you into a 50% winrate intentionally) he better lose a meagre amount of LP dodgint teh first game and hope he gets the right role by trying later.

Just play support when you're up for auto fill. Doesn't matter how you do and then your auto fill requirement is good for a few games. Shitty solution to a shitty system!

Why would OP handle the same situation any differently in the old system, both situations would end up with a loss of LP/MMR from the dodge or possible loss and a gain from a win. The result would be the same, except that OP's main role would be more protected in the new system. OP seems to feel it is illogical to play a role they got auto filled to, which could happen in the old system. The logical response would therefore be the same, based on their expressed point of view. The whole basis for the post invalidates itself as they would have been acting illogically either now or in previous seasons if the end choice were different.
