It feels terrible to own all champions and every reward in the game now is a Nunu champion shard. I dont care about any new blue essence system either way, but when a reward system is giving me things I cant ever use, its not a reward system is it?
It's fine for champion capsules, but IMO, as something much more valuable (you can only get one of per champ per season), it should only give you champs you don't own at. At the very least, up til you own every single one, then it should only contain skin shards from there (and with that, you can get duplicates to DE for orange essence).

Especially with the reduction in value of orange essence and the introduction of the leveling capsules, there is no longer a reason for champion shards to be in Hextech chests. Hextech chests should only include Orange Essence related items. This not only makes things clearer, but it removes the annoyance of frequently opening a Hextech chest to find a garen champ shard to add to the 20 Garen champ shards we get from the leveling capsule...

Agreed, it would be great. It's not that easy to achieve a chest (it's much harder than leveling) and you can recieve only one chest per champion during the whole season so it can be a bit dissapointing when you get only random champion shard from it.
I get Nunu, Garen and and other low priced champions every time. I don't care how much it adds up to. Why don't you just give us the blue essence then? My problem is Riot Games implemented a reward system that really doesn't hand out a lot of rewards. They don't have nearly as much content as Overwatch does and what they can do with their rewards. You get voice lines, taunts, spray paint tags, skins, and other things with Overwatch loot boxes. For League of Legends you get champions you already own and a lot of the content in their BE store you need to buy the skin to get the chromas.
The reward system doesn't feel right. The reward system is not very intuitive. The reward system doesn't have the type of content it needs to warrant League of Legends to use it.
Just got 2 champ shards from an honor capsule. It feels like just a glorified levelup capsule instead of something special and unique, unless you get one of the unique honor rewards. With how few we get, maybe replacing champion shards in honor capsules with emote shard or ward skin shards would be an option? I get it's just more free stuff, but right now they don't really feel good to open generally.
Just got an honor capsule.. First one in a month or three.. I got warwick and garen.. LMFAO.. feels bad... Oh well...

I agree with OP. Between capsules and chests, I get nothing but champ shards. I've had all the champs for a really long time, they are zero use to me.

Agreed, I get champion shards every level, I don't want them in my bonus chests I earned. I have 11 chest sitting...it takes me forever to get keys and when I finally do it's another champion shard. Just sayin, it gets annoying
Just opened by first Box in a while and got....a jinx shard. sigh Yeah, it's some BE, but it feels like shit. I have so many champ shards, it's all you GET from Champ Capsules. WHY are Champ Shards still in Chests? It feels like getting mugged.
I am a semi 1-trick type of guy, and I'm a solo player. Let's just say while I'm not completely stuck with no chests, I do earn chests VERY slowly.
And I just got a chest after finally getting S rank from playing my new main, Ryze, the last chest from S rank was many months ago and I excitedly used 3 of my 28 key shards to forge a key and opened it IMMEDIATELY.
Guess what I got,
A HECARIM SHARD, a champion I already own at that!

I agree with this 100%. In the very few chests I've been able to open since the rework, it's been almost exclusively champ shards. What makes this worse is that I can't even reroll them anymore for a chance to get one of the 8 champs I don't own yet. I leave myself wondering what I'll do with all this BE after I've got all the champs. I don't want to get more out of the hextech chests that I rarely ever get the chance to actually open (I've currently got 3 that have been sitting in my loot for weeks without the keys to open). As someone who doesn't have the money to buy all the awesome skins they keep releasing, it's very sad when the one chance I get to maybe get a cool skin also has a chance to give me some worthless champion shard. It's hard enough saving up the orange essence to unlock the skin.
I have a thought.
Why not give us the option of taking the blue essence instead of a champ shard or maybe allow us to reroll extra shards into blue essence or perhaps orange essence (25% of the blue ess value for example from disenchants, 200 BE>50 OE)
I own nearly all the champs and I've got a healthy collection of shards (15 tristanas and a few duplicates of other >4800BE champs as well as the usual nunu's/garens, I get a garen or annie most cases from the level up capsules and that seems to be the default)
Last I bought a chest, champ shards...1 epic skin, used to be able to count on those just being skins.
Then I hear about others getting JUST SHARDS...from a purchased chest. That ain't right, no sir.
So until something changes, I'm keeping my money off the League and investing in STEAM/Humble again. Gamble boxxes are just becoming worse...and worse.
