I Really Need Help [Advice or even Duo]

A few weeks ago I put up a post looking for an ADC, and I got a guy called Phazeor who decided to duo with me. First 10 games we won straight in a row, I felt I really had some great coordination with this person as my adc. I decided to that that one step further, and buy a champion he preferred as support. I made the mistake of telling him if he could get me a skin for that champ I would buy it, he agreed. I bought Nami, and of course you can guess what happened. I decided to let it go, I continued to play with him, we lost 2 of the 17-19 games we played. I got to 100LP in Bronze IV, as he and I were able to carry games. He told me to please not ditch him like so many people had in the past, I told him the same thing happened to me and that I was not going to do that to him. Then he started to avoid duoing with me whenever I was online. Then the worst part. I met his friends. He invited me to a game of normals with two of his buddies who he had been duoing with. Almost instantly in game they start bad mouthing me, banning the champs I have locked in in champ select [champions like Nami, Allister] they did this two games in a row. Every mistake they made it was "because I was bronze". This past week I was working flat out on developing a 2D Pac-Man style shooter in Unity, so I couldn't play much, but Phazeor [the guy who was duoing with me] told me we would still duo. Skipping ahead to last night: He played 2 games while I sat and waited. This took around an hour and a half and I had to sit and watch, and then, he finally told me "after this game we can duo" so I waited. He finishes the game and says his wrist hurts and that we will duo all day tomorrow [today]. I wake up, hes online, he says "lets go do a warm-up game" he then invites a friend of his. His friend bans Nami [who I had locked in], and plays Kled mid lane. He dies 3 times to the enemy TF. I was supporting with a random teemo bot lane, and we were doing very well, so I decided to come and help him mid. I went mid, and tried to help him. I get this in return:

[This was taken much later in the game, just the chat log I had scrolled up, please go and watch the reply if you want more context]

I told him, I am not the reason he is loosing lane, and called him a dickhead, then muted him, I wanted to play the game.

For the remainder of the game, he continues to spam ping me, as well as allow me to die [while spam pinging me]. Now, when I say allowing me to die, its very obvious if you watch the reply that he does this, again heres a screenshot:

Heres some more of him spamming me with pings

Then the game ends, we loose, the guy who I was duoing with then after the game invited his friend to play, he ignored me, and they are now duoing. Now I am here. Now you may ask the question "Why dont u just get someone else to duo with?" Very simple answer, I dont have people to play League with, and when I try and post on the forums to get someone to duo with me, they remove me because I am in B4 without even giving me a chance to prove myself in a normal game. I am just branded as bad at the game because of the ELO I am in. While I can see where people are coming from with this, if you dont even give me a chance in a normal game(s) to show you that I am not horrible at this game. So here I am, I am a support main, and I cant get out of this ELO because of how rare it is to find an ADC who doesn't flame, int, have "lag", afk, or is just not very good at the game. Please realize that i am not saying im a perfect person, I am just asking for someone to give me a chance, please.

Thank you for any consideration and if you have any questions feel free to ask them.

-----EDIT---

Today I climbed from Bronze IV 20LP to Bronze III With 45 LP. 10/12 games won with my new duo partner. Heres to hoping we keep it up. Thanks for all your advice and support down in the comments. It has been a rough past few days :(

Too funny, I had a similar situation but the guy/gal (Phazeor) seemed a bit cocky so I unfriended him before we ever played a game. Also I just got out of BIV as a support main, send a friend request and maybe we can give each other advice. I main Sona and winning about 53%.

I had a similar situation where I asked on the forums for a duo and this guy called "im terribad" added me. Worst decision to ever play with him, he seemed alright at first but as soon as we got in game he was pretty toxic and talked shit to all the players including me in my build path when he doesn't even main my role..we ended up losing but you know, my post asked for at least a 55%wr player and he was 59% so i stuck with him regardless. Needless to say the next two games we lost and his flame was still going strong and i knew after the 1st game i should've ditched him but I didn't and after the 3rd i finally got the guts to leave and said i was getting off and right after i left the call he unfriended me which i was glad because i never wanted to play with him again. This taught me a lesson that some people are just not worth playing with despite their statistics. It was because of those games that i lost my 60% wr in ranked and i could've stopped it at game 1 or even champ select by dodging.

While I don't have any advice for you and your duo guy (honestly it was a funny read, kind of felt like the plot of a LoL Soap Opera; player finds partern -> partner starts seeing other players -> partner no longer has time for player) but I do have some advice for climbing as a support.

This season I placed Bronze 2 (finished Silver 5 last season). I know that is nothing exciting there, and I'm no pro player, but I have been able to climb consistently this season (I'm Silver 2 now). I got out of Bronze maining jungle and have been climbing in Silver as a support exclusively (decided to main support instead of jungle).

The key is you have to play more carry oriented supports, or supports that can dictate when engages/team fights happen. Try out champs like Nautilus/Braum (team fighters/great engage/disengages) or carry oriented "supports" such as Annie or Brand. Being able to be a super tank (Nautilus) and control when your team fights and doesn't is great for helping your team not throw leads, or climb back from a deficit. Also playing easier mage style supports such as Annie and Brand gives you potential to turn team fights with your insane damage output while still building support items. Just my advice from a fellow support main who is climbing this season in ranked as a solo player.

Also, don't forget that vision is op and will win/lose you games. Make sure you are constantly warding and clearing vision. For real, this is the most important thing you can do!

Zyra, Brand, Vel, Nami, Lulu, Morg, Braum, and Leo should be able to handle anything you're up against.

Ya it's hard to find people to play with at that elo because of the number of smurfs just power leveling. My advice to you is to not say you're struggling to climb because of the adc's you're getting. We all sit exactly where our play dictates we should be. I got hard stuck in gold 2 last season, and I swore it was because of bad team mates. But the fact is, a better player would easily have been able to climb out. Once you start getting better, you'll see. I could climb out of bronze 5 with a blindfold on. And when I was stuck in gold 2, a high plat player could've climbed of gold 2 with a blind fold on. It's just how it is man. As for finding a duo, I'm sure there are multiple chat rooms and discord servers that are separated by division.

have you been in bronze 5 before?

FiddlesOnTheRoof1 votes

I think the lowest I've ever been is bronze 2. That was ages ago.

not trying to be rude but, if you havent been in B4/B5 before then why do u think you could climb out so easy? Im sure your not a horrible player but, at least consider this.

Trust me man. There's nothing unique about it compared to other elos. You climb out if you're good enough. I wish I had a way of proving it to you, but the closest account I have to that elo isn't even level 10 yet. Bronze is easy to climb out of. But my main point is any elo is easy to climb out of once you're good enough. That why I also included that it would be super easy for someone that was mid-high plat to climb out of bronze 2, even though that's where I got hard stuck last season.

To preface: I finished in Diamond last season on my main account, and I've played in every ELO from Bronze-Diamond (if you count my smurfs).

Of all the ranks, B4 and B5 are the easiest to climb out of. At that ELO, I don't think there is a single game that's completely unwinnable, regardless of circumstance. I've won 2v5s in Silver after having three teammates get disconnected at 10 minutes.

I have many friends that are forever stuck in bronze, but they're stuck in bronze because of their play. Sure, teammates can lose you individual games (I've had a nice little loss streak recently due to that), but if you don't climb, that's because you're doing something wrong (so if I don't bounce back soon, it's my fault).

TL;DR: There's no such thing as ELO Hell, since they're all ELO Hell.

I'm not currently in Plat, but I've made the climb from Bronze 4 - Plat and it's very doable.

The best advice for finding people you can comfortably duo with is to go get on these chat communities and find people who you get a long well with. It's a lot less of a blind matchmaking.

In terms of getting out of bronze, it really is pretty easy. I know it doesn't seem like it, but it really is. You have to develop consistency in your play. As a support if you're not averaging over 10 assists and 2.8 kda in a game then you're not playing well. The risks you're taking aren't paying off, maybe you're playing bad combinations with certain adc's.

List of things you should master as a support trying to get out of bronze:

  1. Picks. Make sure you're not just picking to compliment your adc. Make sure you're not picking a liability for your team, or you're picking something that doesn't mesh well with your team, like Janna when you have a Morgana mid, or pickign a low mobility mage when the enemy team has a blitz

  2. In a 30 minute game you should have 40-ish wards at least. And don't just accept the mindset that because you have wards down you're effectively warding. Make sure your wards are covering vital intersections. Make sure to reset often and try and build a Ruby Sightstone as a measure of keeping wards active in the area you're working in. Make sure to keep 1 or 2 control wards in your inventory as often as possible. Ward coverage is huge in games.

  3. Get your KDA above 2.5 and your assists above 10. Doing this would be good evidence that you're taking the right risks.

  4. Learn to play what's in the meta. It helps make your picks count. Also recognize when you need to pick a front line, someone with engage, someone with disengage, a healer, or someone with good cc, do you need to peel, etc etc.

I'd say duo with me, but I'm a support main also. Feel free to add me if you want someone to practice with in some normals, maybe I'll work on my adc skills which are severely lacking.

That sucks. Looking at the game referenced, I'll say two things.

  1. In YOUR defense, you were against a Plat Vayne(!)... ouch
  2. In your teammates defense, you placed less wards than Teemo and tied with Kled, BOTH of those things should be looked at as a failure on your part. (that seems to be common in your support games) I'm not saying supports are/should be ward bots, but if you're TRULY playing support, you should be helping your team as best you can, and vision is a BIG help you can provide. My personal biggest issue is clearing wards, but placing them is easy and saves lives.

Other than that, I'll just say, sometimes after you've been playing for a while you just get tilted and because of that you want a break from people you know. Either so you don't get mad AT them or because you feel they're not helping at that moment and you need to clean things up. I've duo'ed with people before and then wanted a break because I felt (true or not) that our combined elo was putting us in games that were screwing us over.
