Supports with no sightstones???

I've been trying to figure out why many supports have been forgoing sightstones these days, especially in my elo (low)? Is this become a trend or something?...

I personally have issues playing games without vision, and sightstone helps bolster our vision on the map. Even when I do ward it's hard to sustain any useful vision on the map if someone doesn't have at least one vision item that holds more than one ward at once. It's already rare to see a jungle with tracker's in bronze, so sightstone is usually a must-have item.

Thoughts?

If you don't build item 2049, you're not playing support, you're playing exp leech.

People just like building different things. Maybe to get back at people who dont want to buy wards/trinkets because its only the supports job to ward. People can have any reason to not buy that item.

With that said as someone who mainly play support its basically the first item i buy because of its important. But it is not a requirement. Why rain on people's enjoyment of playing a role on how they want to play it? Like if you know the game is going to end soon/surrender, you are way ahead of the match and vision in your opinion is pointless at that point why even bother wasting the time and money to use/get the item when you can end early?

All im saying is stop forcing a meta. This is the sole reason why we got trinkets in the first place. While in my opinion i think its useful and is basically an item i try to get right off the bat. Im not going to harass/make fun of another person just because they are not playing a role by my standards!

I'm a support main andI find myself delaying sighstone more and more as Vision seems to becomme almost pointless.

It doesn't matter if you see them comming if you can't do anything about it, so not buying sighstone get's you 800 gold closer to an item that can.

if you pick supp and not rush a sightstone first item, you are either a seasoned master tier player who can read the map using insight and experienceLeeSin or you are just an annoying "GIBZ ME KILLS" type of player who should keep to playing normals instead of plaguing ranked maps with 0 vision.

Supports w/ no sight stones are the worst.

I got out of bronze and into silver without using sightstone. I'm not saying that people shouldn't get it, but for me personally I found that being able to place one extra ward more than just my trinket wasn't helping me any. So I stopped buying vision items almost completely unless we needed a pink ward to help deal with stealth junglers.

I learned to instead keep track of my enemies on the mini map and to pull back to my team's side of the river whenever the enemy mid laner went missing.

Again I'm not saying that vision isn't needed, because it really is, especially pinks when dealing with stealth champions, but when you learn to read the mini map and what it means when you either see or don't see someone on it, then staying alive becomes much easier.

it does not feel rewarding to build if you play mage/ranged support. Surely, there are some exceptions, like Janna or Thresh, but still.

Holy crap, there's more of these no sightstone supports here than I expected to see. Even assuming yellow trinket is a valid means of keeping wards up (it definitely isn't, you will run out of vision for sure), what item is so important that foregoing a sweeper is reasonable? Be glad you're not going against my support. If I notice your support didn't build sightstone and I already have sighstone and sweeper, I'm going to be laughing my ass off as I clear out the few wards you can place and letting my team know that there's easy ganks bot.

In Lower ELO, I don't think Sightstone is necessary at all for supports. The reason for that is there is a high probability the support dropping the ward wouldn't be utilized by the team anyways, so there is no reason to spend 800g on an item that won't be appreciated. The 800g could go into a damage item instead.

As you progress higher up in ELO, that is when people start realizing vision is important and wins games.

Looks like there are a lot of mixed opinions on sightstone this season. That's interesting.

Majority ruling so far:

Not needed early, but needed eventually.

I just find it hard to have any map control without vision. And I also need to clarify that I'm an adc main, but no matter what role I am, I always ward, whether I'm using farsight or pinks (and I usually buy more than 2-3 pinks per game due to clearing or relocation). Never thought I'd see the day where vision was low priority in League.
