New Game Mode Idea! *FREEZE TAG*

So this is sort of a rough idea for a new game mode for the upcoming Winter Season of 2014. It's freeze tag and here's just a synopsis of how it would work in League of Legends.

"*Greetings Summoners,

Crystal Scar has been doused with the flurries of the Howling Abyss. Come join in on a merry battle of freeze tag! KO your enemies to freeze them and keep your allies thawed to claim victory!*"

Objective: Be the team with the most freezes at the end of the game or freeze the entire enemy team to instantly claim victory. Map Used: Acension version of Crystal Scar

CHAMPION SELECT

Normal Blind Pick selection. No lane-calling needed as this is one of those "for fun" modes.

GAME START Just like Ascension, each team will start on their respective platforms. Once the game begins, each player will be automatically teleported to 1 of 3 platforms.

This mode's debuff will be "Raging Snowstorm" and its description would go a little something like: "You are blinded by the flurries! Your vision is limited and you are not able to see your teammates on the minimap."

It may seem a little extreme, but how fun would freeze tag be if you didn't have to find your teammate? You will still be able to use pings to coordinate your movement. There are no wards, trinkets, or any other type of vision items except for oracle's. Also, because of the vision impairment and a (preferably) disabled return function, you will be able to use a carrier bird of sorts (keybound by 4; Cooldown: 30 sec) to shop without having to return to base.

HOW TO WIN Freeze your enemies by depleting their HP to 0 (use the effect from Sejuani's ult for this maybe?). If you are frozen, you will not be able to make any actions other than typing in chat and pinging. This will help your team find you to unfreeze you.

HOW TO PLAY If your teammate is frozen, find them and unfreeze them by auto-attacking them five times. Once they have thawed, they will have half their hp and a buff called "Used to the Cold", which allows them to be unthawed in three hits, rather than five if frozen again while this buff is still active. The duration of this buff will last for 30 seconds. Going near a campfire (campfires will be explained in the next section) will end this buff immediately.

BUT HOW CAN WE GET OUR HP BACK? Along with the usual speed pads with HP blips on them, players will also be able to recover at one of the campfires, which will be located on the teleport pads. This will give you a temporary movement speed boost of 50% as well as recover your hp fairly quickly. If you are attacked while at a campfire, you will not be able to regen for the next six seconds. Each time you are attacked, the timer will reset. You will also be able to see anyone that walks within a decent range of the campfire on the minimap due to its warm light. The soul from Howling Abyss will also be there waiting for you to buy. A campfire will also be in the middle of the map (you'll see why soon), but will have no effect on players.

Leona ONE LAST EXTRAAnivia An Ascended Leona and Anivia battle on the Crystal Scar as you play. Choose your ally and they will reward you for your patronage.

LeonaSolari's Warmth Defeat Anivia to be temporarily granted the warmth of the Solari. Your body is wrapped in heat, granting you increased HP, HP regen, and CDR. The heat also melts the flurries as they fall around you granting you increased vision.

Anivia Freljord's Wrath Defeat Leona to be temporarily granted the wrath of the Freljord. You have been graced with the might of the Freljord, granting you + 25% AD, +20% AP, (values TBD for balancing purposes), and +25% movement speed. Your eyes have also adjusted to the storm, granting you increased vision.

Once one of the Ascended have been defeated, the one that is still alive will assist their ally in battle using Intermediate AI, but only when an enemy is near. Once she is KO'd she will return to the center of the map where she will recover until her opponent revives.

That's all I've got for now. Feedback, be it negative, positive, or suggestive, would be gladly appreciated.

Updates: •Carriers deemed unnecessary in light of campfire shops. •Cut "Used to the Cold's" CD in half to prioritize campfires. Grammar fixes. •Added a cooldown to campfire regen after being attacked. No babysitters allowed! •Once the last champion on a team has been frozen, the announcer will shout "Iced!" instead of "Ace!"

Love the idea! Just wish it'd be Brand vs. Anivia. Keep up the good work!

Pretty cool ideas here.

The carrier seems unneeded, since it offers no risk for easy items; maybe just have buying from campfires?

So, can we automatically ban Akali Fizz Katarina and Sona from this. They are all crazy good when it comes to limited space. Akili's ult allows good range for attacks. Fizz will just be too OP in this kind of match. Katarina as well as she has had to be banned or spoken about in all previous modes. And Sona's heal and while we're at it Taric Nami Alistar and Soraka should also be unplayable due to heals and stuns. I know that it seems unfair but some Sona mains would be the best at this mode since they would be the toughest to kill period. Soraka and Alister give lots of heal in fast periods. Taric should go too since he heals as well even if it is the weakest.

So what's to stop everyone from grouping up and the game being over in one teamfight?

It's easy to coordinate where to meet the rest of the team if you can ping and talk to each other, which somewhat defeats the point of limited vision.

Sounds interesting, I would definitely try it out.

Sounds fun but it would suck if you got frozen for the whole game because your teammates can't find you. A solution might be that you would slowly defrost and after a minute you would be free again.

I love the idea in concept, but I feel like in practice the optimal strategy would just be to group as 5 with your team and go hunting, reviving any of your allies as they die. Like if Ascension didn't have any objectives. Once both teams did this, the game would come down to one 5v5 teamfight.

Riot in its infinite wisdom has 3 latin servers, and one NA server. super duper smart. Why do they have 3 servers....they don't even have clean water.... Us east coast players are stuck playing at 130-140 ping everygame. I switched to LAN and play at 40 ms...guess what? i jumped up a whole tier...and im still climbing. The pros are Cali in for the ping while Riot gives a middle finger to the rest of us. I made the realization that they aren't good....they are just at really low pings.

Here's a concept I think would be great if paired with this gametype

Haha, and if the whole team gets frozen, instead of "ACE!" you'd hear "ICE!"

This actually sounds really fun.

ADCs would be really strong, then. What about, instead of having to AA them 5 times, the health relics are placed where they originally were, and the wind shrines could be "captured" like in Ascension, but instead, it'd give you a trinket / buff that:

If Trinket: Selects an ally frozen champion and thaws over 2 seconds. During these 2 seconds, the champion is vulnerable, but takes 40% less damage. After the 2 seconds, the champion is left at 30% health and mana, and takes 30% less damage for the next 2 seconds.

If buff: Defrosts all ally champions within 425 range over 4 seconds. During the 4 seconds, the champion is vulnerable, but takes 40% less damage. After the 4 seconds, the champion is left at 40% health and mana, and takes 40% less damage for the next 2 seconds.

For fun: All slows are doubled and are AoE.
